Kalibo, Aklan (PIA) -- Farmers from 14 towns in Aklan recently received "anniversary gifts" in the form of farm machinery and equipment distributed in front of the provincial capitol building, as one of the main highlights of the province's 67th anniversary.

Machinery and equipment costing a total of P10 million were provided to 57 farmer groups and associations, funded by the provincial government of Aklan as part of the province's ongoing agricultural modernization program. Napkin sprayers, grass cutters, wheel tractor, fully equipped hand tractor, paddy threshers, threshers, hover plough, water pump and motor, maize mill biomass chipper, power sprayers, maize huskers were distributed.
Former Governor Florencio T. Miraflores, Regional Agronomist Alexis Apolonio, Asst. Department Chief Emmanuel Soviet dela Cruz, other Aklan officials and staff of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA). "Pagkaing sapat para sa lahat, aklan angat!" In line with the province's motto, the distribution of agricultural machinery and equipment aims to further assist Aklan farmers to increase their production and ensure food sufficiency in the province.
