You've probably seen this super quick gift wrapping technique on social media lately, and we can see why it's trending! This folding method comes from Japanese-style gift wrapping, and we have to admit, this method is faster than the traditional gift wrapping method we're used to.
The technique uses a stretch and fold method on each side of the gift, meaning that once you've mastered one move, you can wrap the entire gift in seconds. If you're used to wrapping presents the old fashioned way, this method does take some getting used to, but we promise it's worth it.

Tip #1:
Plus, it works with any wrapping paper! Impress your friends with this quick and easy trick, or show off your skills at a gift-wrapping party. Follow these simple instructions to wrap your gift perfectly. It's so easy you can wrap a package in less than 30 seconds!
The best part about the Japanese gift wrapping technique is that you don't have to worry about measuring the paper perfectly so that extra creases don't appear. We started with a piece of paper that was about four times the size of the gift and sized just right.
Because this technique involves folding all the excess paper into visible layers, if you start with a very large piece of paper, chances are the gift will end up showing sideways. To begin the wrapping process, position the gift box so that there is enough room for the top right corner of the paper to form a diagonal across the top of the package.
Fold the paper so that the corner of the gift wrap meets the corner of the box, then hold the paper in your left hand. There will be a natural fold at the top right of the paper; pull this side with your right hand and press down so that the crease forms a line perpendicular to the upper right vertical corner of the box.

Tip #2:
Then use your right hand to pull the corner up and over the box so that the excess paper can be folded and crumpled under the cover. This stretching and folding technique is how you will cover all four sides of your package. After making the first fold, use your right hand to hold the paper at the top of the box.
You don't need to insert the folds as you go, as with the traditional wrapping method, and more! Instead, just hold the previous fold while making the next one until the box is wrapped. While your right hand holds the previous fold, use your left hand to pull and fold the wrapping paper up and around the bottom of the box in the same way as the first fold.
Pull the second fold over the square and hold it with your right hand. Don't worry if it sticks to the top corner of the box, you can attach the leftover paper at the end! Use the same stretching and folding technique to complete the final fold.
In the last step, make sure all the extra paper is folded under the main fold, so nothing is showing. Finish wrapping the gift by pulling up the last fold at the end of the package; this is where you will glue and pin all the wrapped gifts.
Tip #3:
You can keep the folds on both sides of the square (like the folds above), or you can add folds on both sides to form a triangle. Add a piece of double-sided tape to the bottom of the triangle or use a piece of plain clear tape to secure the folds.
