This made Christine immediately suspicious of the $250 worth of gift certificates inside the envelope.

To make it look real, a receipt was added and gift cards were listed on a site called Thoughtful Gift Cards. Gift cards look real and qualify as credit cards for online stores like Little Wanderers, Pregnancy Cushion, Custom Snappies, Udder Covers and Canopy Couture.

NewsChannel 9's Andrew Donovan received one of his gift cards and tried to buy $30 worth of baby shoes from LittleWanderers.com. Even though there was still a $30 credit left, the site still asked for credit card information to cover the $18 shipping fee. While the scheme isn't necessarily illegal and the online stores must sell real products, the investigation shows the company makes money by pretending to give credit but charging more for shipping, which gift cards can't afford.
to give The same result holds true for complaints to the Better Business Bureau from customers who were charged more for shipping if they didn't use their gift card. All of the companies listed on the gift cards are operated by Mothers Lounge, which did not respond to NewsChannel 9's request for comment.

The Better Business Bureau, which is investigating the company, received no response despite numerous complaints from women across the country.
