Recently rebranded from M life Rewards, MGM Rewards is based on a simple concept: spend money at hotels and casinos and they'll give you points that you can use for hotel reservations, dining and entertainment. MGM Rewards members earn two different currencies on eligible spend: Tier Credits and MGM Rewards Points.

The former count toward earning higher status levels (more on that below), and the latter can be redeemed for spending at MGM Rewards properties. Regardless of status level, members earn 4 tier credits and 1 MGM Rewards point for every $1 spent on stays and dining at MGM Rewards properties.
Tier Credits accumulate from January 1st to December 31st to generate your status, which begins on February 1st each year. If you upgrade your status during the year, you will enjoy the new status for at least a full year. Currently, the required credits for each level and significant benefits are listed below.
Many of these benefits are new since the program rebranded, so even if you're already a status member, read on to find out what benefits are already available. Earn MGM Rewards points for entertainment, dining and room stays at MGM Rewards properties. Earn Slot Dollars when you play slots, video poker and video lottery terminals at MGM Rewards properties.
20,000 Tier Credits (or meet World of Hyatt Discoverist status). 75,000 Tier Credits (or meet Hyatt Explorist or Globalist status). Resort fees are waived for up to two rooms when booked directly. MGM Rewards has a credit card. Most of the features are basic, but it's a good way to keep your points from draining if you don't get to Las Vegas very often.
Overall though, this is a mediocre card. Here's what's involved: You earn 1 level credit and 1 base point for every $1 spent. These profits are doubled at gas stations and supermarkets and tripled at M life destinations. You get 10,000 points when you spend $1,000 in the first three months.

Southwest Airlines is one of the most frequent airlines serving Las Vegas, so it's only fitting that they partner with MGM. You can earn 600 Southwest Rapid Rewards points for an eligible hotel stay. But you can only earn Express Rewards or MGM Rewards points — no double dipping.
