Spiritual gifts are not just for church leaders or just for the physical growth of the church. The New Testament promises that spiritual gifts are available to believers in Christ. The Apostle Paul used five different Greek words in the Word of God to describe spiritual gifts or gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:1-7).
There are 3 "types" of spiritual gifts, divided into miraculous gifts, enabling gifts, and task-oriented gifts. There is some debate as to whether miraculous gifts are for the church today or whether they were used as "signs" of apostolic authority in the Acts of the Apostles.
