Advertisers are hitting us at an unbelievable speed and at every turn. Our minds can be consumed with all the possibilities of gifts, and with the worry of not getting what we want.
I see this with my children, they go through the "want" feelings and start having a bad time thinking about material things. Material gifts create a desire that can never be satisfied (even when we get the perfect gift, our thoughts immediately go to “what now?”).
Whether the focus is on giving or receiving, the feelings are the same and can be all-consuming, but the truth is that we are consumed by the wrong thing. There is only one gift that is completely satisfying. You know what I'm going to say, but let's examine why... Jesus is the best gift.
