Joseph's Gift - The story of Joseph in the Bible is one of my favorites because I feel like I can relate to it very well. As a young man, Joseph had a dream from God and instead of giving up on that dream as he thought, he seemed to take a different path and his life ended up being very different than I'm sure it would have been.

Joseph's Gift
he had thought Although I was not sold into slavery or imprisoned badly, life is going differently than I thought, it seems that it is against the dream that God had put in my heart. I recently re-read Joseph's story and am digging to find out more about this young man and how he dealt with all that he had to go through.
In the process I learned three things about Joseph that I had never known or known before. Let's take a closer look at the life and story of Joseph and how his faith is a good example for us. Joseph was the most beloved son because he was the first son born to Jacob's true love, Rachel.
One day, Jacob gave Joseph a special gift in the form of a beautiful robe or robe. This beautiful, beautiful abaya had long sleeves and reached to the ankles. In comparison, Joseph's brothers probably had short, sleeveless clothes that would have allowed them to do manual labor with ease.
1. Joseph’s Pain Was The Key To His Greatness
In his book Joseph: A Man of Honesty and Forgiveness, Charles Swindoll writes: "In giving Joseph this long coat, which was also a sign of nobility in that day, his father dared to say, 'You can wear these fine clothes.' Because you don't have to do like your brothers.” I guess this coat was not the first gift Joseph received and it clearly showed his love for his father.

Joseph was probably spoiled and cared for all his life, until that fateful day when he had to give up favors and blessings. The jealousy of his brothers got the better of them so that one day they threw Yusuf into a pit and ended up selling him into slavery.
Call it an end to a spoiled childhood! When Joseph was one of the Gentiles who paid to support him, his days of pity were over. "The Lord was with Joseph, and he prospered in all that he did, as he did in the house of his master in Egypt" (Genesis 39:2, emphasis added).
Joseph had to learn to work because his father was no longer there to leave him. The good thing is that Joseph worked and worked hard. We see Joseph's leadership and control talents begin to develop when "Potiphar put Joseph in charge of all that he had" (Genesis 6:39).
1. Joseph’s Pain Was The Key To His Greatness
We continue to witness the hard work of Joseph and his gifts as he worked hard and was in charge of the prison where he was eventually conquering all of Egypt! In the end, Joseph's gift of leadership and control was used by God to save Joseph's family and the entire land of Egypt from famine.
Enduring the pain of losing his position as the "chosen son" and having to work to get protection is the only reason Joseph's talent was able to grow and flourish in his life. If he hadn't had the trouble of being sold into slavery, he wouldn't have used that gift and thus wouldn't have saved his family.

Joseph's life was filled with what seemed to be problems, but in fact they were things that grew him, tested him, and finally prepared him for God's plan to reach him. In one of these great failures we see the true and good character that was the essence of Joseph.
Joseph found himself in prison after being wrongly accused of a crime he did not commit. One day, he received two new companions, Pharaoh's chief cook and cup bearer. Because Yusuf was responsible and skilled, he came to lead the two prisoners. Having such power, Yusuf could rule them easily and without respect and dignity.
2. Joseph Ministered To Others In His Darkest Time
Instead, we see that Joseph was kind and compassionate to them, accepting their feelings and reaching out to them. While they were in prison, every night, Pharaoh's cupbearer and cook had dreams, and each dream had a meaning. The next day Joseph saw them and saw that they both looked sad.
Why do you seem so stressed today?" He asked them (Genesis 4:5-7). Can you imagine being falsely accused and thrown into prison when all you are trying to do is serve God honestly and faithfully? Then some other inmates, who may have committed a crime, complain and complain (that's my personal interpretation, but it could have been) in front of you about their bad situation in front of you?
My first resort is to tell them they have nothing to complain about and to explain my grief and show why I have it more than they do. No Yusuf! He stretched out and basically offered himself as a shoulder to cry on. He not only listened to their grief, but also agreed to solve their problem by interpreting their dreams.

What a wonderful character Yusuf had, in the midst of his suffering, to put himself aside and help others! After Joseph interpreted the dream of the cook and the wine, he asked the owner of the cup, knowing that he would soon be promoted, and remembered him, hoping that he would help him get out of his prison.
2. Joseph Ministered To Others In His Darkest Time
Joseph reached out to help someone even though he was in pain, it seems that it is good that he receives a reward and a blessing. But the bearer of the cup was restored to his place, he forgot about Yusuf, and he remained in prison for two long years.
I believe it must have been a test for Joseph to try to use things and plan to get out of there. Rather, it seems that during that time he grew closer to God and grew in faith. We know this by the way he behaves the next time we see him.
After two years of interpreting Joseph's dreams, the cupbearer reminded him that Pharaoh needed someone to interpret his dreams. Finally, Joseph came out of prison to share one of the gifts given to him by God and help someone in power. After Joseph interpreted Pharaoh's dream about prosperity and impending famine, he told Pharaoh what he thought was the right thing to do.
Pharaoh must find a wise and intelligent man and put him in charge of all the land of Egypt (Genesis 33:41). Joseph's idea was well received by Pharaoh and his officials. Pharaoh asked his leaders: "Can we find another person like this one who is filled with the Spirit of God?"
