What Is The Greatest Gift God Gave Us - God's gift of redemption, which enables eternal life, is the best gift of all "every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, from the heavenly father of lights". (James 1:17) This scripture, of course, refers to the abundance of our heavenly Father, Jehovah God.

What Is The Greatest Gift God Gave Us

However, among the many gifts that God has given mankind, there is one that is greater than all the rest. What is? The well-known words of Jesus recorded in John 3:16 tell us, "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."

The gift of God's only Son would undoubtedly be the greatest gift any of us could receive, for in this way we would be freed from the bondage of sin, old age, and death. (Psalm 51:5; John 8:34) No matter how hard we try, there is nothing we can do to free ourselves from this bondage.

However, in His great love, God provided what was necessary for this release. By giving his only Son, Jesus Messiah, as a ransom, Jehovah God gave obedient mankind a chance for eternal life. But what is redemption actually? Why is this necessary? And what benefit can we derive from it?

Why Did Jesus Die?

A ransom is a price paid to buy back something that was confiscated or released from captivity. The Bible explains that our first parents, Adam and Eve, were created without sin with the prospect of eternal life on a paradise earth with the offspring they would later produce.

Genesis 1:26-28) Unfortunately, they lost all of this by choosing to disobey God - thus becoming sinners. what was the result The Bible answers: "Through one man sin entered the world, and death because of sin, and thus death spread to all men, because they all sinned." (Romans 5:12) Instead of passing on a perfect life to his descendants, Adam passed on sin and its result,

Death. In the case of redemption, the amount paid must be equal to what was lost. When a person willfully disobeyed God, he sinned, and the result was the loss of a perfect human life—Adam's life. According to the Bible, this resulted in Adam's descendants becoming slaves to sin and death.

Therefore, in order to be freed from slavery, it was necessary to sacrifice another perfect human life - the life of Christ. (Romans 5:19; Ephesians 1:7) Only because God lovingly paid this ransom, humanity has a chance to enjoy what Adam and Eve lost - life

eternity on earth (Revelation 21:3-5). Considering what it accomplishes, there is no doubt that God's gift of redemption, which enables eternal life, is the greatest gift of all. To understand what this "perfect gift" is, let's see how it perfectly satisfies the factors that help us make gifts worth considering, as discussed in the previous article.

satisfies our desire. We humans have a strong innate desire to continue living. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) Although we cannot satisfy this desire on our own, the Kufr makes it possible. The Bible says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Messiah Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).

fulfills our needs. People could not pay ransom. The Bible explains: "The ransom price for their lives is so expensive that it is always out of reach." (Psalm 49:8) Therefore we desperately needed divine help to free ourselves from the slavery of sin and death. But "through the redemption through the ransom paid by Jesus

Christ," God provided just what was needed (Romans 3:23, 24). Just in time. The Bible tells us, "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) Since redemption was given "while we were still sinners," it gives us confidence in the depth of God's love for us despite our sinful condition.

Courageous Christian Father

And it gives us a lot to look forward to, even if we have to suffer the consequences of sin. Reveals noble and selfless motives. The Bible reveals what motivated God to sacrifice his son as a sacrifice: "In this the love of God for us was revealed, that God sent his only Son into the world, that we might have life through him.

It is not love that we loved God, but that he loved us" (1 John 4:9, 10) How can you show that you appreciate the greatest gift? Let us remind you that the words of Jesus in the Gospel of John 3:16 indicate So that only those who "exercise faith in him" will be saved. Faith, according to the Bible, is "the firm expectation of what is hoped for." (Hebrews 11:1) In order to have such assurance, accurate knowledge is necessary.
