Wellcare Covid Vaccine Gift Card - HAZARD, Ky., July 26, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- COVID-19 cases and positivity rates are rising in Kentucky after weeks of sharp declines, largely in rural areas that are unvaccinated, according to government data The Kentuckians of Vaccines. In response, WellCare of Kentucky is working to help close that gap by offering optional home COVID-19 vaccinations and a $100 gift card to encourage Medicaid participants ages 12 and older to get vaccinated.

The event supports Governor Andy Beshear's goal of helping more Kentuckians get vaccinated. In Kentucky, only 44 percent of residents are fully vaccinated, and in many rural counties that number is as low as 24 percent — below the national average of 47.6 percent. So WellCare in Kentucky is launching a campaign to get coverage for its Medicaid members.
The health plan is reaching out to members in rural counties with low vaccination rates and offering them the vaccine. Only members who opt-in and agree to participate can arrange home coverage with a WellCare representative. To encourage more participation, WellCare is also offering $100 gift cards to Medicaid members who get vaccinated in July and August.
We're here to help those who want to be safe from COVID-19. We've gone from community to community, neighborhood to neighborhood, and now we're going door to door," said Dr. Sandra Guerra, Chief Health Officer, WellCare Kentucky. "Meeting our members where they are to ensure they get the care and services they need and stay healthy is at the core of our mission and an important part of our efforts to provide vaccinations to anyone who needs them."
What You Need To Know About Covid-19
The importance of answering questions and concerns about vaccine safety and efficacy cannot be overemphasized. Having a trained healthcare professional during each home visit can help participants address vaccination reluctance and overcome myths versus facts when it comes to vaccination. That's why WellCare wanted to provide an opportunity to address people's concerns about a COVID-19 vaccine from the comfort and safety of their homes.

The question we've been asking since the start of this pandemic is how do we get into the community, how do we address our concerns?" Guerra said. “At WellCare, we provide our members with vaccination schedules, free transportation, and organize multiple vaccination drives in underserved areas. Now, if our members agree, we want to meet members at their doorstep,
