Advertisement The Choice That summer, the Dursleys were so mean and horrible that Harry Potter just wanted to go back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
But just as he was packing, Harry received a warning from a strange, mischievous creature named Dobby that disaster would happen if Harry Potter returned to Hogwarts. And fight it. Because during Harry's second year at Hogwarts, new plagues and horrors appear, including a hideous new professor named Hydroth Lockhart, a myrtle named Weeping Myrtle that haunts the girls' bathroom, and the unwanted attentions of Ron Weasley's sister
Ginny. But they all seem like petty annoyances when the real trouble starts and someone – or something – starts turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more venomous adversary than ever before? Could it be Hagrid, whose mysterious past is finally revealed?
As the Harry Potter series draws to a close, Harry's greatest adventure has just begun. . . The paperback was released on July 25, 2006. The war with Voldemort is not going very well; even muggles suffer. Dumbledore was absent from Hogwarts for a long time, and the Order of the Phoenix suffered.

A young New Yorker mourns the death of his mother, and in this "extraordinary" and beloved Pulitzer Prize winner, he is drawn into a gritty underworld of art and wealth "tied with heart" (Stephen King, New York Times Book Review ).
Theo Decker, a 13-year-old resident of New York, miraculously survives the accident that killed his mother. Theo was abandoned by his father and adopted by the family of a rich friend. Confused by his strange new home on Park Avenue, troubled by classmates who don't know how to talk to him, and most of all tormented by longing for his mother, he clings to the only thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysterious, haunting painting that eventually
draws Theo into a rich and isolated artistic community. As an adult, Theo moves between the rich man's living room and the dusty maze of the antique shop where he works. He is alienated and falls in love - and in the center of an increasingly dangerous and tight circle.
A special 50th anniversary edition of Kurt Vonnegut's masterpiece, "a desperate, painfully honest attempt to confront the heinous crimes of the 20th century" (Time), with a new introduction by Kevin Powers, National Book Award finalist author The Yellow Bird Selection American classic "Slaughterhouse Five » named by Modern Library as one of the 100 best novels of all time and one of the best anti-war books in the world.

Centered around the infamous World War II bombing of Dresden, this novel is the result of Kurt Vonnegut's account of a 23-year struggle to write a book about what he witnessed as an American prisoner of war. Combining historical fiction, science fiction, autobiography and satire, it tells the story of Billy Pilgrim, the son of a barber who became a conscript, became an optician, became an alien abductor.
Like Vonnegut, Billy survived the destruction of Dresden as a prisoner of war. Unlike Vonnegut, he traveled in time or was "stuck in time". Stephen King's twisted vision of a plague-ridden apocalypse and the fundamental struggle between good and evil is as compelling and terrifying as it was when it was first published.
Nominated by PBS The Great American Read as one of America's most beloved novels. A patient escapes from a biological testing facility, unwittingly carrying a deadly weapon: a mutated super flu virus that will wipe out 99 percent of the world's population within seconds of a week.

I have ordered several books from Thrift Books and have never been disappointed. I was looking for a decent copy to read and I didn't mind if it was a book from the old library. The books I purchased are even better than described. The prices of these books are lower compared to other book sites.
I always read the book description before I order it. Not disappointed yet. I keep coming back to Thrift Books. I love old books! It's like a book heaven! Availability and stock is beyond GREAT! But above all, the customer service is great! Very friendly and caring staff!
They are serious! I love their selection! I always get my books early! Great service! Thank you! I have ordered from Canada twice already. The books arrived earlier than expected and in the promised condition. Unique spiritual titles that I could not purchase in our library and had to pay high prices in specialty stores.
I will continue to order and hope I don't have a negative experience like some have commented. I bought a book that is listed as new. When it arrived it had a very small tear in the dust jacket. Since I had time issues and the gap was very small - and the price was very good even for a lesser quality book - I was fine with it.
I mentioned this in my review and gave them an average rating. Their follow up to resolve the issue was fantastic. I would happily recommend them to anyone if there is a problem because of their prices, fast delivery and customer care. After reading some of the other reviews, I'm not sure people understand that this is a used book store.
