Have you seen the crowd at the mall? Are people in a hurry, stressed, everything? You won't find it in Tall Oaks. What you will find is a rural, family-friendly, peaceful country. In fact, our location is a big part of our beauty. We are located on Rte 666 between Sheffield and Marienville, PA.
See map on website for details.) Across the road from us is Tionesta Creek, one of the best fishing streams in the state. All around us are thousands and thousands of acres that make up the Allegheny National Forest - the largest national forest east of the Mississippi River.
In addition to fishing, there are hiking and camping trails in the surrounding forest. Deer were common and we saw a bear and a bald eagle or two. The highway from Barnes to Hickory that passes through Tall Oaks has been called the best Autumn Drive in Pennsylvania - and rightly so.

People were surprised to find "Tall Oaks" in the forest. But that's what you want. We are not the first to set up shop here. At that time, Native Americans had villages along Tionesta Creek. We have heard, the name for the Tummeahanna River means "Wolf Creek."
Later, the name became Tionesta, which means "Member of the Water." In 1767, Moravian minister David Zeisberger came to preach to the residents, and established "the first Alleghenies Church." . So you can see---founded in 1981--we are new people. Our little shop opened in October 1981, featuring gifts, decorations, candles, Christmas decorations, clothing, candles, posters, prints, garden furniture, collectibles, items made at Tall Oaks by Tom & I, and always unique.
Items handpicked for us are featured in our store -- yes, we could go on and on, but we think you get the idea. Since 1981 our little shop has gone through many changes, most of you have followed all this and thank you for your continued support, support and appreciation for the changes we have made over the years.

Tucked away in the woods and in a very peaceful location. I happened upon them around the time they closed for the season, so I got some real gifts. But in terms of sales, the store is amazing. I don't know how many people make the trip just to shop, but it's a beautiful place with national forests and other things to do.
This should be relaxing for people who like to trade. Tom always has the best trinkets and buys them. The shops are nice and quiet. Tall Oaks is a great place to visit, with a variety of small shops nestled in the woods. It's just an average, 1 shop tourist shop.

Alas! Love this place! My husband and I stop here every time we travel through this area! This little shop has something for everyone! It's just the smallest collection of things you can't live without! This little place is in the middle of nowhere, but worth a trip to visit!
