It shows what evil starfish have been doing for a long time. Another thing to note is that whenever Spongebob tries to break free from this abomination, Patrick is a god who can teleport anywhere and his own "gum" senses are numb, so he realizes what he's trying to do to his gift.

Friend: It obviously took him a long time to make the gumball that size for this special occasion, why would he get it? Did SpongeBob get a robot servant from Sandy? Nothing is clear at this point. Aside from its gross visuals, the episode is flawed in its portrayal of the main characters.

Patrick takes a high and mighty tone where it doesn't really make sense and SpongeBob makes him look so easy. Considering how neglected and underappreciated SpongeBob is, it's odd that he's trying to get over it so quickly. There are some contradictions, it's hard to ignore when SpongeBob has a giant plow to push gum, the pranks they enable are pointless, and the sun doesn't shine.
Pieguyrulz wasn't the most disliked user for the episode, as he gave it a Meh rating. The Gift of Gum is the final episode of Season 4. On Best Friends Day, SpongeBob gives Patrick a robot-butler, and Patrick uses his life's worth of gum (affectionately known as "gummies"), and SpongeBob thinks it's a better present than his.
However, when he takes it home, it begins to terrorize him, where a pair of gummy underpants pops out, slips onto SpongeBob and screams "You're not Patrick!" in a demonic voice. So at first he tries to hide in a trash can, but when Patrick arrives he says he gave him a makeover.

After that, when trying to hide in a hole, they say you need to look at a better angle. He then pretends to steal and frees several people trapped in the Gum Palace. Finally, Gumball bursts onto SpongeBob's pineapple, Squidward's Easter Island Head, and Patrick's Rock, and sticks to SpongeBob, Squidward, and Sandy.
Finally, SpongeBob gives it back to Patrick and eats all the gum to free SpongeBob, but it explodes again and covers the entire town in gum. SpongeBob is all set for his "best day ever", but he constantly runs into trouble when his friends need help with their problems.
