Shopify Gift Card Balance
Gift cards can be set to expire after a certain period of time. By default, gift cards do not expire, as it is illegal for gift cards to expire in some countries. If you set an expiration date, the card will expire in 5 years by default.
However, you can change the expiration length. Make sure you follow the gift card rules and regulations of your country. You can enable Apple Wallet Passes to allow your customer to use gift cards in his Apple Wallet on his iOS device. Passes allow customers to check gift card balances and redeem gift cards in stores.
You can enable Apple Wallet Pass from the Gift Cards settings page in your Shopify admin. If Apple Wallet Passes are enabled, the emailed gift card will include an Add to Apple Wallet button. If you deactivate an Apple Wallet Pass for a gift card product, new gift cards will no longer include the Add to Apple Wallet button, but existing passes can still be redeemed.
Change Your Gift Card Expiry Settings
Customers can download the Apple Wallet Pass to their iOS device from the notification email they received when purchasing the gift card. Gift cards sent by email will include an Add to Apple Wallet button. Customers can click a button to automatically open the gift card in Apple Wallet.

The pass displays store information, gift card active balance, and a unique QR code. You can scan QR codes with a 2D scanner when a customer presents a gift card using Apple Wallet, or with an iPad camera when using the Shopify POS app. A customer who has downloaded the pass can receive notifications on her iOS device when she is near the store.
Customers can disable these notifications from Apple Wallet on the pass details screen. The details screen also displays the store's terms and conditions. You can change the look and feel of Apple Wallet Pass to match your store. Your customizations will also appear in customer-downloaded passes.
You can change the text and background color of your Apple Wallet Pass to match your store. Apple Pass headers cannot exceed 30 characters. If the title exceeds 30 characters, you'll get an error message when saving the gift card. By default, you'll see the Shopify Gift Card icon in the header of your Apple Wallet Pass.
Change Your Gift Card Expiry Settings
By default, the Shopify banner appears below the pass title. By default, gift cards are set to ship automatically once the order is paid for, and the customer receives a notification email. You can change your fulfillment settings to manually fulfill all items in your order, including gift cards.
In the Order Processing section, select Do not automatically process order details. Learn more about fulfillment settings. If an order is medium or high risk, gift cards for that order will not be automatically shipped. You can manually fulfill a gift card from the order details page.

You can also export gift cards as a CSV file for reference. You can search for gift cards by code or customer. Click the Search & Filter button and use the search bar on the Gift Cards page. To search by full gift card code, enter the code without spaces.
Enable Apple Wallet Passes
When a gift card is issued, the full gift card code is only visible to the customer, as the gift card is considered currency. The list of gift cards sold will only show the last 4 characters, but you can search by the last 4 characters or the full code.
You can filter gift cards on the Gift cards page. Filtering is useful for finding gift cards that match certain criteria. For example, you can filter by status to list all gift cards that have been voided. Select a specific filter value. Available values depend on the selected filter.
Optional: To save this view, click Save As, enter a name for the saved view, and click Save View. To remove a filter, click the "x" next to the filter condition. You can sort your gift cards on the Gift Cards page. Sorting is useful for finding gift cards that meet certain criteria.

For example, you can sort by expiry date (in ascending order) to see gift cards with the closest expiry date. Select an option to sort. The list updates with your selection. To save the sorting options as a view, click +, enter a name for the view, and click Create View.
Disable Apple Wallet Passes
You can view gift card details by clicking on the gift card code. On the gift card details page, you can view information about the gift card, such as the balance, the order number associated with the gift card, the name of the customer who ordered the gift card, and the expiration date.
You can change the expiration date of your gift card by clicking the link under Expiration date. In the "History" section, you can view the history of events related to gift cards. Click the gift card code for the gift card you want to void.
If a customer loses their gift card code or needs to update their balance, you can email the updated gift card to the original customer. If the gift card is partially used, only the remaining balance will be sent to you. Click the gift card code for the gift card you want to resend.
You can export your gift cards as a CSV file and view the details in a spreadsheet. This helps you view information about outstanding balances and other records. You cannot import a gift card CSV to create a gift card product. The gift card CSV contains the following information about gift cards:
