Serenity Prayer Gift - I was at Joel's on Friday 25 December 2015. Many people come but the staff can handle the crowd. The place was amazing. Pizza is good but I'm thirsty for Indomie Ribs. It was the best Indomie Ribs in the world. If you want to escape from the busy life in the city, this is the place to be.

Great views with a unique bungalow attached to the mudflats. And the pizza is one of the best pizza in Indonesia! 4 friends go to Sumatra. It was originally planned after a three night stay in Pulau Viha with the idea that it would be nice to cool off on the sandy beach rather than the rocky beaches of Pulau Viha before heading south into the jungle.
Overall a good place. The huts are dug in a cold cave first. The beds have mosquito nets and the bathrooms are in the cave and have cold water running up to the shower rather than a shower head. It is very basic but accurate.
The beach is nice and close but you have to walk a long way to get to the surf spot and it's only a relaxing place for intermediate surfers. The restaurant was nice but the price was high and the staff, although very nice, kept messing up our order.

I didn't think so even though apparently the place was badly damaged in the tsunami and most of Joel's employees are orphans so I can't expect them to understand English well. The place is on the beach so it's private. Once you get there you will be very busy.
There is nowhere else to go for lunch or dinner unless you get a taxi or a bike and you can sit on the beach all day so you just go to the restaurant to get some shade from the sun. We cut our trip short because of this and booked it for 2 nights only.
It's a nice place but looking at other places we stayed during our 5 week trip I think it's overpriced and independent for what it is. Leave it but only for a short time. Nice place on the beach. Very good pizza and pasta. Interesting view.
The locals swim there. What else can I say??? Going to Palau Viha and stopping through Banda Ach? Don't miss Lompoc Beach and Joel Bungalows. Short and beautiful 17 kilometers from Banda, Joel's is at the end of the beach, on the right side of the beach, built on the side of a hill, with several bungalows that are part of the mangalows.

He uses mud and caves. . !! If you can, request one of these in advance - these are the bungalows with bathrooms (cold water). Joel has a cool little restaurant on the beach that serves everything from nassi goring to wood fired pizza (ask him about his stay in Italy) to tuna steak.
The food is good, but it can take a while depending on how busy it is. The kitchen staff are nice though and will definitely share a laugh with you. August, the property manager is also important, as his constant laughter and stories to share will light up your morning, afternoon and night.
Please tell him to say hi to Sean and Jessica. Joel is also in the process of building Joel Bungalow 2, located on the beach in the south. We had the pleasure of staying next to where there are currently two bungalows and a very rustic restaurant.
These are the best if you have a motorbike, and if not, the staff will come and pick you up if you want. These bungalows are in what my girlfriend and I started calling "The Lion of Indonesia". There are goats, bears, cats, geese following you, and pigeons everywhere.

It is very quiet, the beach is right there, and there is no one there except the construction workers who are building some new bungalows and restaurants. Check it out We really enjoyed our five night stay. Definitely worth a stop if you have time on your trip!
