The Creativity Cycle: Alison Saar and the Toni Morrison Papers brings the sculptures, prints and textiles of multimedia artist Alison Saar into dialogue with the work of Toni Morrison, including the vast collection of articles from his career as a writer, d
he essayist and playwright, professor and editor is housed at the Princeton University Library. Saar and Morrison share a commitment to giving voice to the Black American experience, drawing inspiration from past generations and creating space for future cultural production through a dynamic that Saar calls the "cycle of creativity."
The exhibition explores themes that resonate in the work of Saar and Morrison – musicality, work and ancestry – through different aspects of each artist's practice. You Belong Here celebrates dynamic expressions of Latin American photography across the United States. The exhibition brings together both established artists and a new generation of image makers who deal with themes of family and community, fashion and culture, and the complexities of identity in American life.
