There are two types of gifts – regular and sponsored. Trainers can have 20 gifts in their bag at any time and they take up no room in the bag of items. They can be viewed and removed from the Item Bag page. Once a trainer receives a gift from a PokéStop, they can send it to their friends.
To do this, the trainer must enter the friend detail page and tap the gift button below their avatar display. If it is not available, the button may be grayed out because the trainer does not have the gift in their bag or the friend has not yet opened the previously sent gift.
If the day a gift has been sent to that particular friend, the button will appear gray with an arrow. Once the Send Gift button is tapped, trainers can choose which gift they want to send from their item bag. After choosing a gift, the trainer can send it 2, add a sticker 3 or tap on the postcard of the gift 4 to see a detailed view of the PokéStop or gym where the gift was received.

Gift Sending
The trainer can choose stickers from their item bag 5 or buy them from the in-game store. After selecting a sticker, it can be modified or removed before sending the gift. After sending a gift to a friend, an arrow appears on their avatar icon on the friends list page.
Once a trainer receives a gift from her friend, she will receive a notification at the top of the screen, which can also be viewed in the in-game notification tab. The friends list also shows which friend has sent a gift if it hasn't been opened yet.
After tapping on a friend who has sent a gift, their profile page will have a gift overlay 1 that can be dropped to take another action with the friend - send a gift, battle or trade.
