Hifumi Togo is a prodigy of shogi, a Japanese variation of the ancient game of chess. The developers of Persona 5 Royal are said to have considered turning Hifumi into a ghost thief at some point, but given that she is Star's confidant and can teach Joker some valuable tactical skills.

Hifumi is not as essential a confidant as the others, as many players of Persona 5 Royal can get by without his tactics (and players of previous Persona games will have to do without them as well). However, some of them can be useful during boss fights or when you encounter Savage Shadows.
