In fact, it's not that hard to wrap a gift like a pro, and it can be done in just seven steps. So if you have a lot of presents to wrap this season and want to make an impact, follow these handy tips. A common mistake we make is to cut the wrapping paper off the roll before we measure.
First, measure the wrapping paper by placing the gift in the middle of the wrapping paper, making sure the paper goes all the way to both sides when you fold it. A general rule of thumb is to roll enough so that the paper is about twice the length of the gift box.
There's nothing worse than cutting paper first, only to find it's too short for the gift. Once the paper has been measured correctly, cut the wrapping paper. Make sure you use sturdy, craft scissors like these Scotch Precision Scissors ($4, Amazon (opens in new tab)) to avoid tearing the paper.

Then place the gift box in the center of the paper and fold one side of the paper tightly over the gift. Place a piece of tape in the middle and do the same with the other side. Then fold the paper down over the edges of the gift box, making sharp creases on each side of the box. Take one curled edge and wrap it against the gift box before taping it. Do this with the other side and it should create a triangular tail.

Then fold the tail or flap of the triangle against the box and tape it down. Repeat this on the opposite side, making it look like a clean, sharp triangle. This should look like an envelope design. If you want the edges of the gift box to look sharp and more defined, use your finger to curl the edges around the gift.
This will look more neat and elegant. When your gift is perfectly wrapped, you can decorate the front with a bow, ribbon, gift tag or something festive. These decorative details are great for personalizing and adding style to your gift. But who would think for more than a second about the massive ball of colorful paper, shiny bows and tape that remains and takes up half the room in the morning.
