Side Quest #1: Miracle On Tenkaichi Street
The game features two side quests involving a Michael Jackson clone known as Miracle Johnson. Everything about him — his background music, his looks, his movements — are all huge, dumb references to Michael Jackson. As you might expect, Miracle Johnson's dialogue is full of Michael Jackson references in both the Japanese and English versions of the game.
However, because Michael Jackson's work is English-based, the Yakuza 0 localizer was able to reference him in a way the original Japanese writer could not. Spinning and Miracle Johnson are in Japan to shoot a new music video, but they need help from the game's protagonist, Kiryu.
Nas introduces himself to Kiru and then explains the situation. You can see that Localizer added a subtle reference to Michael Jackson's 1982 song "Human Nature." Localizers can keep their semantics pretty much the same. A new reference to Michael Jackson's famous "Thriller": At one point, Spinning said that if Miracle got hurt on set, the whole world would be mad at him.
In the original Japanese script, Miracle replies "Bad!!" In English. In the English localization, Spinning gets the extra line "That would be really bad." NS said "Who's bad!?" The Japanese line contains an obvious reference to Michael Jackson's song "Bad". The English localization references famous lyrics from the same song, after tweaking it slightly to sound more slick in English.
Side Quest #1: Miracle On Tenkaichi Street
Kiru shares some thoughts on the project Miracle responded to. Localizer kept the line intact and included a reference to Michael Jackson's "You Rock My World". Now that everything is decided, it's time to fight the fake zombies while Miracle Johnson is around. dancing in the street
Localizers refer to Michael Jackson's "Another Part of Me". The Localizers change the last line to something closer to Michael Jackson, referencing the song "The Way You Make Me Feel". Miracle gives Kiryu a helpful gift. . One white box and one black box appear on the ground.
