Hyatt Gift Cards
Hyatt Gift Cards - It's rare to see Hyatt offering any promotions when purchasing gift cards, so there's an interesting promotion going live for the second time this year. A few weeks ago, Hyatt announced that they're offering 10% off gift card purchases for two terms: To take advantage of this promotion, you must use promo code WINTER19 when purchasing a gift card (and you want to make sure it's really you. see discount shown at check-out) .

Hyatt Gift Cards
Now that the launch is ready, I tried this out and it honestly seems to work. If you're considering taking advantage of this promotion, there are some important terms you should know: I'm a loyal Hyatt, I often ask myself if it's working. The advantage of this promotion is obvious - you can save 10% and that's pretty cool.
Most importantly, there are some risks associated with gift card theft. Also, gift card purchases are not considered Hyatt purchases because they are processed by a third party: Another downside is that if you use the gift card at an eligible facility outside of the US, it's possible.
taking a slight hit in the exchange rate as they may not be using the correct exchange rate. I hope it doesn't, but it doesn't surprise me either. The second round of Hyatt's 10% off gift card campaign is now live. Prior to this announcement, I can't remember the last time Hyatt offered discounts on gift cards.

I'm dying to use it, but when you factor in the (fair) risk, the difference in credit card scores you'll get, and the potential hassle you'll experience, it's really upside down. I'm still considering buying some, but I don't think it's as simple as it might seem at first glance (if these brands are bought by Hyatt then it'd be great if we could call it a no-brainer).

Are you planning to buy Hyatt gift cards with 10% off? The Hyatt gift card is a scholarship, not valid at low (initial) rate @James: You said "V is an idiot. Who doesn't know how stupid he is". someone who is stupid, doing this in a sentence?
V is an idiot. Who doesn't know how stupid you are. I guess V doesn't even know you can earn miles by buying plane tickets AND flying. And the first payout rate is usually no more than 10% of the AAA rate, and the gift to you always comes first.
They charge $8.50 shipping for plastic cards. You can use an MC gift card (and possibly VISA) to purchase the e-card. Anyone else having issues with the "not working" promo code? Damn - it might save me if I could use these for an upcoming Lindblad outing.

I guess they see this as a prepaid reservation? @schar, Park Hyatt St. This is Kitt's. I believe Lucky reviewed it earlier this year or late last year. Not being able to use prepaid gift cards is insane. Hyatt says they don't know anything about it and they don't have any promotions at @V So, in example 1, when you redeem gift cards at a Hyatt property, you get your 5 WOH points per $.
It's not that hard to understand. You get the same 5 WOH points in scenario 2 (plus anything other than your premium cc) and the same in scenario 3 (plus another 4 WOH points for card usage). You are wrong. We compare the cost of purchasing a 10% off Hyatt gift card compared to paying directly at the hotel to stay without a discount.

Note that gift card payment is not treated as a Hyatt payment or hotel fee. It is marked as a regular purchase (max = 2 points/$ applied to the card). Paying the Hyatt fee directly at the hotel is rated as... You're wrong. Note that gift card payment is not treated as a Hyatt payment or hotel fee. It is marked as a regular purchase (max = 2 points/$ applied to the card). Pay Hyatt directly at the hotel up to 9 Hyatt points/$ (with WOH credit card) or up to 2-3 points/$ (with most other premium credit cards).
Should You Buy Hyatt Gift Cards For 10% Off?
So we have 3 scenarios (using Lucky's calculations as the ROI basis): 1) Buy a 10% off Hyatt gift card using any credit card (max 2 points / $ or 3.4% return). 2) Pay at the full price of the Hyatt stay with any special card (3 points/$ for CSR or 5 points/$ for amex Platinum, purchase with a minimum return of 4.5 or a maximum of 8.0%) 3) Full price of Hyatt stays with the Hyatt WOH Card (9 points/$ for 13.5% cashback).
In any case, he pays 10% more for NO BRAINER 2) or 3) than 1). Hi: Does anyone know if these can be used with the new SLH model? 10% off is still a good price, but the reason I didn't use this deal is because it can be a nuisance if you have an agent who doesn't know how to use it.
I haven't tried Hyatt gift cards but had this issue at Marriott. @Lisfranc, you misread my comment. I said all this happened about 4 years ago. He bought the gift card in December and found out two months later that they had fixed the card.

I'm trying to read the terms and conditions on the Hyatt website. Can a gift card be used more than once? For example. If I only have a $1000 card, can I use it at Hotel A and redeem the $500, then use it at Hotel B to redeem the balance for $500?
Bottom Line
@V -- It has nothing to do with using a Hyatt credit card. This is automatic regardless of your salary. 4x points earned replace, for example, 2% cash back on another credit card or 3% point advantage. Therefore, using a Hyatt credit card with another type of payment, you get about 3-4%.
So use your Hyatt credit card instead of a gift card... @ V -- It has nothing to do with using a Hyatt credit card. This is automatic regardless of your salary. 4x points earned replace, for example, 2% cash back on another credit card or 3% point advantage.
Therefore, using a Hyatt credit card with another type of payment, you get about 3-4%. As such, using your Hyatt credit card instead of a gift card isn't the best option (but IMO it's a better way to use a Hyatt credit card). I have the wrong logic.
Using your Hyatt Credit card to pay for hotel stays will set you back 4 soles + 5 bonus points per $ = 9 Hyatt points per $ spent, or 13.5% (through conversion). card is no wise Some have been compromised in the info section above, seems like the best ESL.
