There are a few important notes about using gift cards to make reservations on Hotels.com. Basically, you can only use one gift card per booking. However, if you have multiple Hotels.com gift cards, you can transfer balances to one card that you can use to make a reservation.
To combine your gift card balance, go to the Hotels.com gift card site and click on the balance transfer tab. When you're ready to order with your gift card, go here to start your order. Please note that if you plan to pay for your stay with a gift card, you will not be able to use the "Pay at Hotel" option at the time of booking and the remaining balance of your stay will be due at the time of booking.

I have the opportunity to purchase Hotels.com gift cards at a special discount where I work. According to the terms of service, I can use one gift card per transaction. But Hotels.com has a feature on their website that allows you to transfer balances from one card to another.
Can I convert three $100 cards into one $300 card? If the feature is on the site, I guess the answer is yes, but why ask Hotels.com? They respond quickly to IME messages. Terms and conditions will appear to be posted in several places. I don't see anything about combining balances on one card.

Alternatively, you can go to http://www.hotels.com/gc, then at the bottom left you will see the "Balance Services" section, where you can enter the place to combine cards.
I just called and was told I can only use one card. I can book 1 night at a time, but the same room is not guaranteed. I have nine gift cards totaling $200.00. Very disappointing While it is true that you can only use one card when you sign up, you can first combine all cards on one page at https://www.hotels.com/deals/gcbalance/.

I already said that instead of "Pay now" (where you have the option to use a hotels.com gift card) "Pay later at the hotel". If I want to pay now instead of using a hotels.com gift card, how do I do it? To do what you want to do (pay the balance of your existing reservation with a Hotels.com gift card), you must cancel your reservation and book using the "Pay Now" option.

Unfortunately, US FinCEN rules do not allow more than $2,000 to be loaded onto a gift card at one time. There is no way around this at our end and there is currently no solution to get more than one gift card in one transaction without totaling the gift card balance.
