Gift Ideas For Climbers
That's why every year when we moved to a new city, we chose an apartment within walking distance of the climbing hall. We moved to Vegas in 2019 to be closer to Red Rock, and I even started building a route at our local climbing gym.

Our gift guide is a mix of gear we own, gear recommended by our OG climbing friends, and we asked friends what was on their wish lists. Many of these new products have been provided to us for honest review (see our full list of partners).
You Can Compare Up To 4 Items At A Time.
We either owned the old version before or tried it from friends before getting our own version. We will send back any items that we don't like or think aren't suitable for our readers (you can email me about them if you're interested). Do you have too many climbing shoes?

If you're anything like us, we go out at least three times a week and quickly break through our shoes. This is one of the most practical gifts for climbers, especially minimalist climbers. If you're bouldering (or free soloing), at the very least, you need shoes.
The best climbing shoes are the ones that fit your feet. Unfortunately, just because a friend recommends the stickiest rubber shoe doesn't mean it's the right shoe for you. The safest bet is to buy a pair of shoes they've worn and love, or pay for the soles if you don't mind the surprise.
We recommend trying them all to see which one works best for your feet. Don't forget to include a gift card so they can exchange it if it doesn't fit. I know I have a hard time finding shoes that fit my foot shape. Stability Tip: You can always offer to pay for solo, but this requires more coordination with your friends' climbing plans.

Besides, it's not that surprising. If the climber in your life is into sport or traditional climbing, they will appreciate a new rope. There are several types of rope used for different situations, but you're sure to find one that's a little more versatile than the one we just got.
Many climbers say this is the most important investment. Everything else (shoes, hardware, etc.) is comparable, but where you want to spend a lot of money for safety is the rope. Since we are still new to sport climbing, we tried to get something that we could use for a long time.

So far, we've really liked Kara Almaz's 9.9m 70m climbing rope. Pro tip: Check out REI's rope guide to learn more. This is a general term for additional equipment required for Sport or Trad riding. For traditional climbers, it's all about the rack. All can only be used for a certain number of exits, so it's a good idea to have backups.
Pro tip: If you're not a climber and want to know what they need, show interest in climbing and talk about building your own kit. Chalk bags are a fun way to accessorize and customize your look. Some are practical, others are fun and decorative.

We even saw companies that make special stuffed animals. Chalk bags (more for climbing, but can be used for bouldering): With all the gyms closed during the pandemic, we thought it was time to finally install a wall at home. Our long-term plan is to have more space, but to get a taste of it in our apartment, we purchased Megalith panels.
We absolutely love how they look! They were easy to install and looked almost like a piece of art on our walls. We've been looking for a house with space for an indoor rock climbing wall for years and finally found it. I originally wanted to have my own wall, but there were over 80,000, so we settled on this adjustable workout board (you can see it here).
If you want to go to something, . You can then add random splash wall holders or use a kilter, tension or moonboard system. Needless to say, climbing a mountain is difficult for you! We have a few different products, but we love the Rhino Skin Solutions range.

Friends of ours have used them for sport and multi-pitch climbing and they are a game changer. He no longer has to worry about misunderstandings on the wall. We also use it to find each other while bouldering where there is no cell service. Plans can always change, so we can plan to be on the same channel to find each other.
There are many different types of mountaineering bags. Some are good for carrying exercise equipment. Others are designed specifically for outdoor use. Our friends started a clothing brand called monopct and they have the cutest dresses. We are very excited to see their well-made climbing clothing.
