Gift For Autistic Adults - Teens and adults with autism and disabilities can be very hard to shop for! This post is taken from my friends and members of our Facebook group and what I could gather from Twitter. If you are looking for a gift for an autistic adult, or a gift for an autistic teenager, here are some tried and true ideas.

Note that many of these items will appeal to all children, not just autistic teens or adults. Many families who submitted proposals have adults with Down syndrome, intellectual or developmental disabilities, etc. "There is nothing inappropriate at an age when they like things." If the teenager or adult likes characters or toys that are intended for younger children, so what?
If they like it, they like it. You can introduce and introduce, but you can't force a person of any age to like things they don't like. If people have a problem with me and my middle-aged son loving Sesame Street, that's their problem. It's not mine last year, Yogibu was our gift to Kevin.

I love it for the child who struggles with executive function skills like morning time management. You can set one clock for when you wake up and another for when you need to get out of the shower and get dressed. So it's also a charging base.
For a child who likes to take the device to bed with him at night, there are no more problems where to store it while he sleeps. 5. Age Appropriate Puzzles: Puzzles are so popular for all ages. And hey, some kids can still do the chunky wooden puzzles and that's fine too.

So it's still a good gift idea for a boy with autism. Or anyone, really. Just make sure they have Apple products and not Android. 12. Driving lessons: If a child is in special education, it is likely that he will learn differently. If learning to drive is an option, we make it possible.
Call and find a driving school so they can get more instruction and practice. Teens with autism need extra practice and should be given the opportunity if driving is a reality. 13. Noise-canceling headphones: If a child has an auditory processing disorder or other autism-related voice problems (or even if they don't!) they may have trouble distinguishing the different sounds they hear in their natural environment.
