Padang food stalls and restaurants are open throughout the unspoilt part of town, and fruit carts are ubiquitous. There are some nice cafes with relaxing views of the rice fields around Ulee Kareng along Jl Tengku Iskander on the western edge of town. As with all travel, common sense and a good attitude are all you need to get by in this small town. However, there are some points to keep in mind. Although Banda Aceh is safer than most European cities today, it's still best not to go out alone after 6pm.
