I was looking for a vegan bag and found a vegan bag that had this unique design. I brought the bag home and people stopped me on the street in America to tell me how much they loved my bag. I also found myself traveling around Sumatra and working in natural medicine and healing.
The other day I came across the designs you now see on Banda Bags. I needed to know where they came from, so I went to the villages and met women who did different things. These were amazing artisans who created intricate and unique hand embroidered designs, and their skills blew me away.
I immediately knew I had to start a collaboration with this woman who seemed to create these designs as if by magic. My search for this magical and unusual experience took me to a village in Sumatra's Banda Aceh province. If you've been listening to the news for the past fifteen years, you'll remember that this is the place hit by the world's worst tsunami.
Traveling Sumatra, Running Into A Unique Design
The earthquake that shook this region shook the earth on its side, literally. The tsunami that followed devastated the entire region and killed more than 2,000 people. I arrived after the tragedy, and ten years after it happened. Looking around, I can only imagine that it happened a week ago.

I couldn't believe that this is where these beautiful images were born. One day the idea came to me that I could bring this unique design to the world and help these women stay in a state that has not changed for many years. This remote area had few opportunities to revive its economy, but it had something it knew the world would appreciate.
We worked together to create a vegan and cruelty-free bag that would grace the runway and checkout line. The weekend bag was born. As soon as we did the weekend, we went out with the Nano. It's a vegan leather bag that makes a statement.
So we've created a vegan backpack that everyone can wear. The vegan bag is stylish and the perfect size to carry everything you need. The shell bag is a unique design that we have created, because we have never seen anything like it. There is nothing else like it.

We seek and play with new ideas all the time, and we want to be one of the most innovative and aggressive mobile phone companies in the world. When I started Banda Bags I created the company's foundation to pay fair wages and ensure the safety and well-being of artisans. Also, I wanted a durable and sturdy bag. Our vegan leather bags are handmade from the best materials that we constantly try to recycle. We are currently looking at all possible ways to make our bags more environmentally sustainable. This means finding products with high levels of recycled content and pursuing innovation in production.

We are also looking into ways to make fibers from ocean plastic! I was right in thinking that people would love the unique designs I found in Indonesia.
