tree sketch Rebecca Rees still waters After months of renovations, Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge is debuting a brand new gift shop this weekend, the botanic garden announced. The Descanso store will feature hand-painted murals, garden-themed products created by local artisans, and Descanso Gardens-inspired "private label" pottery, vintage cards, bags, hats and more.
The remodeled store will reopen its doors Saturday for an invitation-only event featuring the work of local artisans and a redesigned collection curated by Mark Alan Harmon, Descanso Gardens said in a statement. The event will feature ten of the shop's artisans to discuss their work and products, which will also be available for purchase.
The store will celebrate its public opening the following day when the gardens open at 9am. "We see the opening of the store as an opportunity for residents and visitors to support local businesses and experience the region's unique producers," Descanso Gardens CEO Julian Rook said in a statement.

“The store will offer a wide range of artisan products, from cultivated plants and handmade products to specially designed artwork and jewellery. The store will serve as a showcase for the best the region has to offer and a testament to the vibrancy and creativity of the local community.
A statement from Descanso Gardens described the revamped gift shop as "focusing on high-quality, handcrafted products" and providing a "unique opportunity for visitors to take home a piece of their visit to Descanso." The release also notes that Descanso Gardens' focus on artisan products reflects the growing demand for sustainable and ethical products.
