Lloyd and I recently went to Thurmont, Maryland to spend the weekend with friends. On the way we saw the cutest tea house I've ever seen in Ladysmith, VA. Even the name of the city is dear!

It's kismet because I googled somewhere we could have afternoon tea and had no luck, so when we saw the exit sign we knew we had to stop. The place is very small but it really adds to the comfort. This is enhanced by lovely decorations throughout the store.

My favorite is the umbrella that hangs from the ceiling. They also have the most twee table settings. Everything is beautiful, in bright colors, the space is decorated with fresh flowers. All the decorations on the walls looked like spring! And mark all available wall space with dots.

But it's done so well that you don't feel bad. I especially like the way you used part of the tea service in the decor. However, the most important thing is that the tea and food pass the rigorous taste test! Spoiler alert: Already! Love the doily detail on the menu too!

The tea selection is amazing. I went for Victorian Earl Gray and Lloyd was Burgundy Blast. They are both perfect. Lloyd is in heaven, he loves hibiscus tea. Earl Gray is just what I want with an unexpected and refreshing rose. And I love how the milk soaks into the tea, so I'm sharing this visual with you.

The menu is a pre-fixed situation where you choose the number of courses you like. We only had two plain teas and it was really filling. It started with a delicious pair of pigs. Golden raisin seeds and cumin combined with strawberry shortcake. I don't usually like dried fruit, but I love cumin seeds.

Honestly, this is one of the best cookies I've ever had. It even comes with the cutest garnish of lemon curd and butter. Then we each got a "main" tea sandwich. I got cheese on toast and Lloyd got a cucumber sandwich. They are served with cheese, fruits and vegetables and are delicious.

Finally we finished with a trio of cupcakes. To be honest, we were so stuffed that we couldn't finish the whole dessert. But they do have delicious lemon tart, chocolate chip and shortbread, and some nutty chocolate fudge. They made me feel welcome when they brought their checks.

It reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. Speaking of Terry and Charlotte, I want to take a moment to introduce the two women I met there. Terri is the boss and does all the cooking, she is the sweetest lady and her tea room inspiration idea is always a winner.

Charlotte our server was very knowledgeable and connoisseur of tea. After dessert we were able to play a little in the gift shop. Most of the products are handmade by Charlotte, aka M'Lady Alanna. I was very impressed with her handmade teas. Dobby the Elf is always by his side!

My favorite is the handmade shoulder strap. It looks like something straight out of Outlander. If you read the label, you'll notice it says "Emily Bronte Shrug" because once a month they host a literary night! Sounds great and I'm definitely adding it to my to-do list!

All in all, if you're heading down I-95 to DC, I'd definitely plan on having afternoon tea at this quaint English teahouse! The teahouse is beautifully decorated, including the bathroom, so many details have been thought of and there is so much to see that you can't help but smile as you take it all in. soup in the winter months. Everything on the menu is homemade, fresh, cooked to order, and you'll get generous portions of cheese, fruit, and vegetables.

The presentation is so pretty and appetizing, you'll want to dig right in. You can feel the love that Terry and Charlotte put into the food, the atmosphere and the whole experience that is unmatched by any other restaurant. invited to his house. Everyone is very welcoming and very nice.

I always feel like a mini luxury vacation. I recently made (curbside pick-up) and it was amazing, so easy and delicious as always. I highly recommend this beautiful teahouse as a game changer!! An ideal place for a teahouse. Great tea, sandwiches, pastries, service and prices.

Better "afternoon tea" than you get at some of the fancier places (Ritz, Jefferson, etc.). My friend and I stopped here for a T. We shared a serving for 2 which included an individual portion of T, pulled pork, a selection of sandwiches and a small dessert for $14 each.

The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. This will definitely be a stop when we visit Fredericksburg or Washington. Today we went to Cuppa Cheer teahouse in Ruther Glen. Yes, I have a coupon! This place is located in a small strip mall off Rt.

1. The inside is very nice. There was another group of people there when we arrived. We sat down and waited quickly. We each got one tea service ($12 each). She had a pot of tea for each of us (I got the Burgundy Blast Tea, a fruity tea with notes of papaya, mango and hibiscus) and my husband got the Lavender Lace Tea, which has notes of lavender, lemon, verbena, cinnamon.

mint and rosemary). I love Burgundy Blast tea and my husband said he started liking it after the first cup of lavender. We both got two buns (one was pecan, cranberry, cornbread and the other was pumpkin bacon). Both are delicious - the pecan/cranberry scones are more "cookie-like in consistency" and the pumpkin scones are more "cake-like".

A little heavy cream and/or lemon curd would be nice with the pigs, but nothing. We waited long enough to get the rest of the 'tea for one'... ..which came with our choice of sandwiches (a cucumber and cream cheese sandwich for me and a chicken alfredo cristina for my husband) with fresh toppings
