There is a small but excellent gift shop in the storefront of Moderna on Monroe Drive. The Field has a large collection of amazing gifts from around the world and they are divided according to interest into four stores. However, samples of these can be found in the General Store inside the left door on the right side of the ticket office.

A 6,000 square foot space of mosaic floor tiles and vaulted ceilings, the Main Store is divided by country, science and time. Find other pottery, clothing, art or toys. If your shopping trip is mixed with museum exposure, head to Sue's shop on the balcony above the famous T.Rex.
Or stay on the main floor for the Field Trip Store which has items related to museum exhibits. Downstairs is the Rock-ology Store with minerals, jewelry and books. The museum is famous for its collections of impressionist and post-impressionist paintings, widely regarded as one of the best outside of France.
Highlights include more than 30 paintings by Claude Monet, including six of his Straws and many water lilies. The collection also includes important works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, such as Two Sisters, and Gustave Caillebotte's Paris Street Rainy Day. Post-Impressionist works include Paul Cézanne's Basket of Apples and Madame Cézanne on a Yellow Seat.

In Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's Moulin Rouge there is another highlight. The idea of the pointillist, which inspired a song and became famous in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Georges Seurat's Sunday Afternoon in La Grande Jatte1884, is widely expressed. Also, Henri Matisse's Bathers by a River is an important source of his work.
Highlights of the French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist collection include Vincent van Gogh's Bedroom in Arles and Self-Portrait, 1887. In the mid-1930s, the Art Institute received an award of hundreds of works of art from Annie Swan Coburn. The "Coburn Renoirs" became the foundation of the Art Institute's art collection.
