How To Store Your Bread
We use a two day service to deliver our bread. Each of our breads comes in a paper baking bag ready to eat for a few days, or wrapped in plastic and refrigerated for long-term storage. Don't panic if the bread seems dry or hard...our crust is the best (and only!) preservative in our bread!
It's almost magical how it will return to "new" condition with a short time in the oven. Crispy, thick crust; soft, chewy pieces inside. Keep your loaf of bread in its paper bag on the counter - where men are hungry, women are hungry, children are smart - for a few days.
Do not put it in the refrigerator, it spoils the shape. If your bread is being sliced, it's best to wrap it in plastic so it doesn't dry out. If you don't plan to eat your bread right away, wrap the bread - or parts of it - in plastic and freeze.

When you're ready to enjoy them, remove the plastic bag and follow the instructions below to heat them. All our breads are baked all the way through so there is no need to keep them warm. You can eat bread directly from the bag (cut into pieces or cut - no judgment here).
How To Serve Your Bread
If it is frozen, you can let the bread cool on the table and eat it. We're just pointing out that bread will give you an "oven" experience... if you reheat it in the oven. Starting with frozen bread? Allow to thaw on the counter for 30 minutes, then follow these instructions.
All our cakes and coffee cakes are baked without preservatives, so you'll want to eat them quickly. Each cooked meal will have a "eat or dry by" sticker two weeks from the start of the journey from us to you. If you are going to enjoy the treat soon, they can be stored at room temperature in the package they arrived in or in a plastic bag.
Avoid refrigeration, it may spoil the process. For long-term storage, all our baked goods can be kept cold for up to three months. You can store them in the refrigerator in their original packaging or, once opened, double wrap them in plastic bags. After freezing, it is best to allow frozen cakes and coffee cakes to thaw slowly at room temperature in the package.
That's all you have to do - even some cakes like scones, a little heat in the oven will make them delicious. The balsamic we get from La Vecchia Dispensa is made by the Pelloni and Tintori families. When I visited, Simone Tintori showed me the place where the acetaia—the place where balsamic is made.
