The only problem: Kristin is not pregnant. And he doesn't know "Jenny B." This made Kristin immediately suspicious of the nearly $250 in gift cards that were in the envelope. A receipt was seized, making it genuine, and gift cards from a website called "Thoughtful Gift Cards" were listed.
Gift cards look real and are obvious credit to online stores like Little Wanderers, Pregnancy Pillow, Custom Snappies, Udder Covers and Canopy Couture. NewsChannel 9's Andrew Donovan took one of the gift cards and tried to buy $30 worth of children's shoes from LittleWanderers.com. With $30 of credit remaining, the website still requests credit card information to pay the $18 shipping charge.
Although the scheme is illegal and the online stores sell genuine products, investigations show that the company makes money by appearing to offer credit, but charges extra for sending gift cards that it will not refund. This same result is similar to complaints filed with the Business Bureau by customers who were charged more for shipping than if they had not used the gift cards.

All of the companies listed for gift cards are operated by Mothers Lounge, which did not respond to NewsChannel 9's request for comment. The Better Business Bureau, which is investigating the company, also has not heard. numerous complaints filed by women across the country. Consequently, the BBB assigned the company an "F" rating.
