Unless spoilers are your thing, in which case have at it. With all the makings of a late-summer sleeper hit, Joel Edgerton's The Gift had a pretty good second week at the box office. Part of this is probably due to word of mouth, but a large portion of its success must be attributed to Edgerton's superb efforts not only as the film's co-star, but also as a first-time writer and director.

Joel Edgerton's writing doesn't let the audience get carried away so easily. A specific case in point is Gordo's actions during the parking lot confrontation between him and Simon, then the latter comes to "apologize."
While Simon characteristically bullies Gordo, eventually inflicting physical harm on him, Gordo does nothing to fight back against his aggressor. Even during the previous two acts of The Gift, we don't see Gordo do anything outside - except to drug Robyn. However, bringing that act to the moment, the most Gordo has ever done -- from a threatening point of view -- is to issue a foreboding warning to Simon that he should have thought before he acted.

It all comes down to the fact that Gordo, while victimized all his life, never devolves into the total monster that people expect to see based on The Gift trailers released to promote his film. If anything, Gordo seems like the type of person who perseveres through the slights that have come against him, and he does so with his faith in "good things" that happen to "good people".
Through this lens, his remarks in the hospital are not an admission of guilt, but rather a justification of faith. Robyn is a good person, so her wish for a child was granted; whereas Simon's not so good behavior now saddled him with the thought that flesh and blood might not be just that.
With both sides of the equation out in the open, it's time to assess the facts and reveal where we stand. From where the actual facts are, as well as some other questions that the film leaves in its narrative, it is a safe view that Gordo is not the father of Simon and Robyn's child.

The argument hinges on one moment in the overall narrative of the film - and that is the supposed rape of Robyn. Again, seeing his outlook on life, as well as the pattern of behavior he established throughout The Gift, Gordo is the type of person who believes in justice through a superior moral position

Now, as stated before the film, the reason why Robyn and Simon go to his old stomping grounds is that of Robyn's history with substance abuse - which may be the presumed cause of her injury
Which begs the question: if Robyn is drugged by Gordo, will this be enough of an event to bind with her body chemistry to prevent a successful pregnancy? Surely the havoc caused by the reintroduction of such foreign substances into her body could reverse her body chemistry.
More importantly, earlier we saw Robyn take the drugs stolen from her neighbor's medicine cabinet, and as she told Simon, she had an accident where she fell. Considering that Simon took this story as a common occurrence, and she was doping at the time, Gordo would have the goal of El Rey from Planet Terror and some kind of magical DNA to get past the pollutants in the
Robyn's system at that time. Again, that's if Gordo even broke Robyn in the first place, which I don't believe happened. But even if Gordo snuck into the house, drugged and had his way with Robyn, and she did not report to him - it was not until an undisclosed amount of time after she had gotten pregnant.
