It all started when Dina Pfeiffer bought her brother's son two $400 Visa gift certificates for his high school graduation. But when he went online the next day to make sure his son was aware of any rules and restrictions he might encounter while using the new card, he discovered that one of the cards had been hacked and completely drained.
She said she was so surprised that she woke her son, who was still asleep, to ask if he had spent money on his Visa card before. “Gift cards can be a convenient and practical way to give gifts, but consumers need to be aware that gift card fraud on the shelves is a serious issue that can have significant consequences. CSN CEO Robert Burda told ConsumerAffairs: “It can only cause financial losses. Not only can they be opened, but they can also cause emotional distress and frustration.” CSN told ConsumerAffairs that you can avoid these gift card plans by checking the package. “Look for signs of tampering, such as a torn or resealed package.
