Urban Outfitters Uk Gift Card
Urban Outfitters Uk Gift Card - If subscriptions rule our present, rentals can rule our future. At least that's what Urban Outfitters is counting on for their Nuuly subscription service. Launched in 2019, the service gives users access to items from Urban-owned brands and similar labels, including Anthropologie and Free People.

It's Urban's first foray into the rental market, and it sits between Rent the Runway's designer buffets and clothing-box subscription companies like Stitch Fix or Nordstrom's Trunk Club. What makes Nuuly unique and personally attracted to the service is that the jackets, dresses or jeans available for rent are often the same ones that customers can buy on Anthropologie's website.
Not clothes or items thrown away from last season, you can wear them as much as you want within 30 days for the low price of $88 per month. It, coupled with the far-reaching changes in how we shop and live in a pandemic era, has made me question my own shopping habits and consider whether I need to own everything I want to wear.

After 3 months of using Nuuly, I can confidently say that my relationship with consumerism has changed. Owning clothes is over. It is for rent. I first heard of Nuuly through a classy friend and boarded it in November just before the pandemic turned the holiday season upside down once again (thanks to Omicron).
How Nuuly Works
Like many people I know, I don't know what to wear when socializing or going to a party, and Nuuly seemed like a low-risk way to add some much-needed help to my wardrobe. Nuuly works like this: Search for a wide range of clothing from dozens of brands and select 6 items.
Nuuly charges $88 (you can add extra for $18 per pop if you need more clothes) and ships your selection in a durable, reusable bag. At the end of the month, return everything and unlock the next set of items. The biggest downside I've noticed in using the service for a few months is the lack of flexibility.

If you receive an item that you do not like or do not fit, there is no way to exchange it for another item. To get new ones, you have to return them all at once and pay to unlock the next round. But the positives mostly offset it.
Most of the items we've received so far are brand new with tags attached, providing a normal shopping experience. Also, being a city dweller, returns are easy, as my items usually arrive within a few days of ordering, and I live about 100 yards from a UPS store.
Pandemic-Era Consumers Prioritize Quality And Sustainability Over 'Eco-Waste'
Nuuly also offers discounts if you want to keep something. So I bought a pair of new Levi's jeans for $40 off. Like many sectors, clothing rental has been hit hard by the pandemic. According to data from Coresight Research, cited by The New York Times, the market was $1.3 billion in 2019 and fell to $1.1 billion in 2020.

Urban co-chairman and COO Frank Conforti described Nuuly's rental business as being "in its early days" during the company's most recent earnings call last November. However, Nuuly is considered one of the company's most important growth initiatives, and the service saw a 55% increase in subscribers between Q2 and Q3 and is set to reach 50,000 users by the end of 2021. It's also not Urban's only foray into the market: last August, Urban launched a sister marketplace, a peer-to-peer resale site called Nuuly Thrift, which allows users to buy and sell clothing and receive discounts across the entire Urban family of brands. It's a way to maintain "the buying and selling cycle within the URBN ecosystem," CEO Richard Hayne said during the company's second-quarter earnings call. . Call last August. Taken together, Urban's leasing and resale ambitions are a sign of broader change within the retail industry. Brands are recognizing that people simply shop differently now: Shoppers are more into sustainability and quality than in the past, according to a 2021 survey of “post-pandemic consumers” from resale platform ThredUp. 51% said they now feel more "eco-waste" than they did before the pandemic Some studies suggest that renting clothes is different, but still has a large carbon footprint - at least renting to me was a way to curb or completely eliminate reliance on fast fashion, a major polluter, and with consumers prioritizing quality and sustainability, buying secondhand or renting clothes has become much more normal than before, said Aditya Vedantam of Buffalo Business School. “Trends are changing, and the COVID crisis has made them even more prominent,” an assistant professor told Insider. Vedantam said.
Reselling and leasing both fall within the broader scope of the sharing economy,” said Vedantam. “We see this in many industries, like car sharing, and we see this in the apparel world as well.” And how shopping will be in the coming months and years. Whether it evolves or not, "P2P rentals are here," he said. Insiders can earn affiliate commissions when purchasing through our links. Learn more. Our customer service team is online 7am-10pm.
