When Clamshell hits the shelves, I hope the lesson learned by the LEGO Group is that people don't like this particular set, not that Disney sets with minifigures instead of minidolls don't sell... Why should they

so expensive i like the minifigures but not enough to justify £140 lego have gone out of their way to try and make smaller more affordable more detailed star wars sets they need to do the same with this oh my god the clam - this is absolute shit.
Look at the thing! @BricksAhoy said: "When the Clamshell hits the shelves, I hope the lesson learned by the LEGO Group is that people don't like this particular set, not that Disney sets with minifigures instead of minidolls don't sell ." . .” honestly seems like a big risk to invest so heavily in this one movie with a big D2C set.
I know all the Disney remakes were (unfortunately) blockbusters, but did they ever move the merchandise as well as the original animated films? Especially since it seems likely that the original movie will still be considered the more iconic of the two in a year or so, it makes me wonder why LEGO wouldn't just release a set based on material from the animated movie like the D2C-

stuff and live-action film sets focused on smaller, short-lived sets that can get immediate attention from the remake crowd at a lower cost. Mind you, I'm incredibly cynical and fed up with the whole Disney necromancer process of turning their great animated movies into crappy live-action adaptations year after year, and how the general audience continues to bite the bullet, so maybe I'm not the

best man, honestly guess what the demand is for LEGO sets based on these movies. Is this box worth… $48? It's an odd choice, and also feels overpriced. Maybe it's bigger than I think. The clam shell looks good, but I don't know how it will sell.
At least they didn't say anything absurd in the press release for the mollusc set like "depicts scenes known and loved around the world" since it's not yet known and loved. I'm not interested in these sets, but hopefully we get cheaper Disney/Pixar minifigure sets like Up house.
I don't know if I don't know how, but I know I can't afford it right now, I just want to say to everyone here, please don't be racist. Micro pop, mini pop and mini fig? They really went all in, huh. It's a shame the minifig version is so incredibly expensive.
In terms of popularity, this version is like putting the cart before the horse. Was the clam shell the best item here? Don't they have a lock in this version? But at least we get some other mermaids. Hopefully they will be available on Bricklink after that.
