Newcomer Erica Weiss (The Vigils) returns to direct the extraordinary and emotional adaptation of The Grapes of Wrath, adapted by Frank Galati. "The tough, famous final scene of "...The Grapes of Wrath" is beautiful to watch here, in part because of actress Emily Marceau's work as Sharon Rose, who she felt she felt. But mostly because of the strong personal investment in this important neighborhood theater.
The amount of investment and theater money in Chicago that bankrolled that evening. "...The Grapes of Wrath, 'one of the greatest American adventures of all time,' is now being played by a splendid company of actors on the narrow strip of the storefront stage of the Gift Theatre, which has been shown early.

The star follows the original cast The 1988 Steppenwolf Theater production of Ste was beautifully adapted for the stage by Frank Galati. "...but all in all, there's no denying what an incredible success The Grapes of Wrath is for the ever-lucky Gift Theater. Please forgive this crude comparison, which doesn't matter, because Gift artists really know how to do it. Make the best of what you have.
" "...the music is solid, but if there's one standout, it's Geer Day, as Jim Casey, ex-preacher turned proto-hippie. Color brings a jazzy, boozy stream of consciousness to the real man. He feels like a prophet. Will do. You know when he's talking about how all people are part of one "big soul," it's time to sit up and listen. Besides, 19yes, 19actors all shared such a small room, the idea that they also shared a soul.
Not so crazy.” John Steinbeck's famous novel is closer than ever, leaving room for a serious examination of the characters played by the small stage Usa 19 members. The background looks like something from a community theater production, but it could have been the end of the play, because while the acting is good, Galati's script and Erica Weiss' direction are taken.

Grapes of Wrath in the realm of pure mythology It is an amazing thing to see ""...this is an amazing production of an 80-year-old story that couldn't feel more timely With so much current talk about how to make America stronger, immigrants and jobs, this play offers another perspective on our country.
Let's Keep In Touch
How we got there in history These heartbreaking stories of men and women, uprooted from their homes and forced to humble themselves to survive, are part of the so-called American Dream. And the honesty and power behind Steinbeck's novel is central to this powerful production.
Galati adaptation of Steinbeck's novel A wild-eyed Jared as ex-preacher Jim Casey is balanced by the quiet silence of Namie Small as Tom Jodd, and the pair form a nucleus around which the rest of the characters revolve, figures constantly moving like space. The Okies trek to California gets tougher
The final scene where Sharon Rose nurses a starving farmer feels less powerful than she should, but the rest of the piece shines in all its left-wing political glory. Inc. Weiss makes an interesting decision to cast the Jodes as a multifaceted family, which adds more structure to the story.
John Steinbeck's novel "The Grapes of Wrath" fails to evoke many strong mixed feelings. It premiered in Chicago before moving to Broadway where it won the 1990 Tony Award for Best New Play. Frustrated by these twin heirs, Gift himself wanders west with all the courage and glory of the pair.
