For the collectors, the store has a large inventory of Jim Shore collectibles, Collegiate Sports items and general gifts.
The Gift Niche participates in the Downtown Roanoke Gift Card Program. The gift niche began in December 1982 when four mothers came together to share their love of great finds. All mothers wanted to work part-time, and they decided to do so if they took rotating days to run the shop.

The shop started in a small booth in the City Market building. Over the years, the store has developed as ownership has been restructured and its customer base has grown. Three of the original owners remain and the shop moved to its current location on the corner of Salutorget.
