hopes that his bosses in Syri will notice that such programs can make a difference for viewers. The specialist examines how a simple act of kindness can create a ripple effect, whether it's giving a homeless person a haircut or helping pay for an adoption.
Hartman's popular On the Road stories appearing on the CBS Evening News and CBS Sunday ultimately inspired the special. "First, I think if everyone would watch this gift could change America for the better," Hartman wrote on Twitter. “Second, CBS needs to know that there is a burning desire for news programming that inspires and unites.
If we send that message on a Wednesday, maybe we won't have to wait another 20 years for a sequel!” For 20 years, people have asked me, "When is CBS going to give you your prime time special?" Now I can finally answer it. Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET.

The veteran correspondent will introduce us to more everyday heroes from coast to coast who are changing the lives of those around them through acts of kindness, including two from our own back of the neck. Ruby Chitsey, a 15-year-old from Arkansas, first caught Hartman's attention when she was just 11 years old.
That's when Chitsey saw a need at a local nursing home and began visiting residents and asking them what they would wish for if they had three wishes. Then she granted those wishes, and four years later, Chitsey's efforts turned into a national foundation. Hartman also returns to Dallas to visit Curtis Jenkins, who first gained attention for the extra effort he made to care for the children he drove to school each day on his school bus.

We got an update on how his efforts have paved the way for new programs in the school system to better serve the children of Dallas and beyond. "Each of these stories begins with someone being helped by another person, and that interaction changed their lives forever," Hartman said in a statement.
