Gift has officially opened its doors at 209 Cent. Olaf Ave. The business thrives in Canby, where it has local associated businesses, creating a destination for people to shop locally. Gift currently employs two full-time employees and two part-time employees. Canby is a wonderful, tight-knit community that offers many activities that bring customers and residents to town.
The gift started offering home decor and gift items. It later expanded into boutique clothing that ranged in size from small to 3XL. Also carried out in La Donaco are local handicrafts such as clothing, jewelry and furniture. The recent push to shop local has been a great asset to business success, with social media a huge contributor as well.
The giveaway has an online presence in the form of a Facebook page, Instagram, and even a website where all clothing is listed and shipped throughout the United States. Mark and Kari Whittier, originally from the Fargo, ND area, have owned Canby Drug & Gifts for 28 years...a quintessential "mom and pop" store where Mark, a registered pharmacist, is in charge of the pharmacy.

He just asks that you enjoy the experience, because Frederick Allen once said, "You only live once, but once is enough if you do it right." After surviving the famous forest fire of December 31, 1984, we rebuilt our restaurant at the same location. We serve the community with conference rooms, lunch buffets, a variety of great food and a romantic old world atmosphere.

Canby Print Shop has been a part of the Canby business community for many years. Formerly located behind a building on First Street West, the business moved to its current location on St. Olaf Avenue in the mid-1980s.
Since that time it has been owned and operated by the Burke family. Our building dates back to the early 1900s when it was home to Eaton's General Store. The original Eaton's sign is still preserved on the side of the building along the town's walkway.

From business supplies like invoices, forms, business cards and checks to personal items like wedding and graduation invitations, we can do it all.
We also provide fast and convenient copy and graphic design services. Moberg Meat Center, Inc. Olaf Avenue North in Canby, located at 125 St. In the 1880s, John Lund operated his land agency in the same building, selling thousands of acres. The meat market has occupied the same building since 1929, when the Grondal family opened Grondal's Market.
Long Term Care
Gordy's Locker Service was owned by Gordy & Barb Gentz from 1974 to 2008. In November 2008, Chuck and Bonnie Moberg purchased Gordy's Locker Services. Meeting the needs of farmers is very important to Moberg. Beef and pork processing has always been the mainstay of the business.
November deer season provides excellent produce for local hunters. At various times over the years, retail meat and groceries were available through the main street entrance. A retail storefront was one of the goals when Mobergs bought the Meat Center and it opened in May 2011.
Currently offered are Schroeder Milk Products, Amish Weddings, Old Dutch, Sara Lee Baked Goods, Bongard's Cheese and Farm-Fresh Eggs. Home-made products are the most popular and this is because the recipes used are Grondal's ring bologna, summer sausage, ham bread and pork sausage; Porter's Locker's Polish Sausage and Gordy's Locker Wiener, Slim Jim's and Smokey's.

In addition to traditional favorites, Mobergs has added several new products to its line of great homemade items. Four full-time and several part-time employees perform processing and retail service roles. Owner Chuck Moberg has 39 years of experience in the meat business. His interest in high school FFA began when he was part of the championship meat judging team.

He joined Pipestone Votech for a course in retail butchering. He worked at Gordy's Locker in the 70's and 80's. He then moved into retail sales and enterprise sales. His career has come full circle since becoming the owner in 2008. 1910 A.K. (Albert) Severson opened a law office in Canby.

1994 Randall J. Slieter appointed District Court Judge. Stacey L. Wynberg joined the firm known as Qualley, Bolton & Wynberg. 2010 Stacey L. Wynberg resigned as a partner from the firm to accept a full-time position as assistant county attorney for Yellow Medicine County. The firm is now known as Qualley & Boulton.
