He focused on quality for frozen custard and the Christmas tree in St. Louis. It began with Captain Ted Drews, a St. Louis enthusiast who won the Muni Tennis Championship every year between 1925 and 1936. In the mid-1920s, she won the singles title four years in a row at National Parks.
In the 1930s, he traveled with his family to Florida every winter to play tennis. Brother Ted opened his first frozen custard store in Florida in 1929. In 1930, he opened another store on Natural Bridge Road in St. Louis, and in 1931, on South Grand.
Current Chippewa location on historic Route 66. By 1958, only two southbound stops remained. As the frozen custard business steadily improved, Ted Drews Jr. decided to expand the Chippewa location from 5 windows to 12 in 1985. “Our business is service,” said Ted, who inspires four generations of family and employees to work hard and pay attention to the details of the business.
