Instacart cash gift cards cover order-related costs such as alcohol and prescriptions, tips, taxes, service charges and delivery charges. They can be combined with other Instacart credits or promo codes you may have in your account. Currently, it is not possible to place an order with a gift card from multiple merchants at the same time.
If you want to use the gift card balance at another retailer, you will need to make a new order. If you purchased or received a gift card before November 18, 2020, you can still use it through your Instacart account. However, this gift card does not include service and delivery charges, tips, taxes, prescription or alcohol charges.

Temporary Authorization Hold Amounts
Note: Instacart charges for items added to your gift card at checkout or after checkout unless the amount exceeds the authorization hold. If the order exceeds the total allowed after items are added, the credit or debit card on file will be charged, even if there are sufficient funds on the gift card to cover the additional items.
Also, if the order total after adding the items exceeds the amount on your gift card, we will charge the difference to the credit or debit card you entered at checkout. When you process orders, we place a temporary authorization on your gift card that is slightly larger than your total estimated order.
This small change results in possible changes to the final total due to special orders, added items, substituted items at different prices, and actual item weight. If the authorization hold exceeds the amount on your gift card, we will charge the difference to the credit or debit card you entered at checkout.
