Thanks Liz Yes - first I remember the official gift shop is in front of St Peter's and around 12 the shop is on your left at 10am. However, you can find better prices and more choices elsewhere. I bought it to the left of the sacred shop, outside the large circular courtyard.
On the right are some gift shops and a fair cafe - to the right of which is the end of the circular colonnade. Then to the right, but beyond the circular courtyard, on the next street parallel to the main street leading to St. Peter's - on that street is a cluster of shops with roses.

There's no shortage of them everywhere, but it's cheaper outside the square, sorry, I didn't go to the gift shop. On the way out was the gift shop at the Vatican Museum. I'm sure they did, and yes, I think they do. There are several gift shops in the area.
The best place for me is to go to the dome. Take the lift, have comfortable walking shoes and be prepared to climb and be tight. You can go up to a small floor inside the dome, overlooking St. Peter's. Once you get to the top the views are amazing, there is a gift shop run by nuns that actually has some beautiful rosaries.

See the bones of St. Peter. The meeting place is next to the post office, near the gate guard. It had to be changed before I left to put all the protection in place. My guess is that after you go through the giant security check in the piazza, you go to the left so you're looking at the front of St. Peter's.
