On May 4, 2016, casual clothing retailer Aeropostale filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in an effort to reorganize and return to a stronger company. While they currently still sell and accept gift cards, if you have a gift card from them on your desk or in your wallet, they're a company worth keeping on your radar screen.

On March 31, 2016, Hancock announced that they were closing all of their brick and mortar stores along with their e-commerce website. While they have yet to post an official date for when they will stop accepting gift cards, it's safe to assume that your gift card will be worthless once they run out of stock.
It would be wise to pull it out and use it now. On June 13, 2016, Hastings announced that he was entering Chapter 11 in hopes of selling the company. They currently have 126 stores open across the country and also have sister brands Movie Stop and SPImages.
While they will stop selling gift cards, shoppers have until July 13 to use all gift cards before they expire. If you missed the July 13 deadline, there's still hope, as you can submit an evidence form to Hastings to get your money back. On April 7, 2016, PacSun filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The California-inspired clothing retailer hopes to build a stronger, leaner business. They still sell and accept gift cards online and in-store. Since its future is still unclear at this point, it's a good idea to get your PacSun gift card out and use it before it turns into a windshield wiper.
