But, when he brought it in, he realized how disgusting it was for its used and unwashed contents, and a pair of underwear protruded from his gums and began to chatter and frighten him. At first SpongeBob tries to throw it away, but Patrick catches it and says he's wearing a trash can.

Later, SpongeBob tries to bury Gummy, but Patrick catches him again and says that he will dig a hole so that Gummy can look down. Patrick insists that it be shown correctly and placed over SpongeBob's door. The next day, SpongeBob tries to throw it away at night, freeing several fish trapped in it.
He tries to get Gummy out of his house and fails, destroying the ball and getting stuck in it. The next day, Sandy goes to SpongeBob's house and finds it covered in the resinous remains of Gummy, which SpongeBob hangs on the door. She tries to free him by placing a piece of gummy on the truck which almost manages to pull it off.

But, she eventually gets out of there and crashes into SpongeBob's house, bursting gums everywhere. The plan backfires when Squidward and Patrick completely cover their houses in gum and Squidward and Sandy. Patrick then appears and tells SpongeBob that he can get Gummy back. After Patrick eats all the gum and becomes overweight, SpongeBob, his friends and their homes are released.
Suddenly, Patrick burst and released a giant bubble that covered the entire bikini bottom in gum. Patrick ends the episode by announcing that it's Best Friends Day.
