The white ambassadors (guides) were very good. A fun destination worth a day trip from either city. A must visit if you live in Minnesota. Wear a spam t-shirt and they'll give you a free can! The Spam Museum is a fun place to spend an hour or two.
Entry is free and the staff is very helpful. You can learn about the use of spam and its effects around the world. And yes, spam contains Monty Python skits. sounds good! Thanks to Hormel Corporation for stepping up and offering this free supplement! It honestly has something for everyone.

Adults, children and adolescents. If you are nearby, you must do it! Very informative about spam history, very friendly staff who came and gave more information about how the company helps students in Austin with funding for their education and other sites and interests in their city.

Spam Around The World
In Austin, Minnesota, SPAM—that much-infamous candied pork—runs through the city's veins. Hermel was founded here in 1891. Of the town's 25,000 residents, about 1,800 work at the local Hormel Foods Corporation plant. In this town, there are spam t-shirts on every corner. And around the corner from 3rd Ave NE is the Spam Museum.
It wasn't the first time I visited the Spam Museum because my sister is a Hormel employee. First, my family and I went to the museum because we thought it would be interesting. Who else can say they went to a museum for spam? My opinion quickly changed as I walked around the museum and learned many facts about Hermel.

Spam not only has a rich history, but connects local and international communities. After deciding to take a surprise trip to Minnesota with my friends, I knew the Spam Museum would be on our agenda. When we entered the Spam Museum, we were greeted by a bronze statue of a farmer and two pigs.
This statue gives people a glimpse into the history of Hormel as all products are made from pigs. Although the farmer is not named, guests can guess that he is Jay Hermel. Hermel, whose father founded a pork packing company in 1891, created SPAM in 1937.
The Spam Community
This statue became a great photo opportunity for tourists and is now a recognizable landmark. When you enter the Museum of Junk Mail, you feel like you're in some quaint Midwestern theme park. Like a theme park, the Spam Museum has a number of interactive exhibits focused on one topic...SPAM.
Bright logos and large TV screens make you feel like you're waiting in line for a roller coaster. In Big Gold, Spam invites you to the museum. Don't be fooled by its appearance! This 14,000 square foot museum is full of history. Even though I have been to the museum countless times, I really tried to immerse myself in the history of Hermela and learn new facts about this delicious meat.
Paying close attention, I learned a lot about the Hormel family and their very unique food products. From family betrayal to the creation of Spam, the Hormel family has truly had a huge impact on Austin, Minnesota. The entire history of Hormel began with George A. Hormel.

Without much, George Harmel settled in the small town of Austin and took a risk and founded Geo. A. Hormel and Company in 1891. When he passed the company on to his children, it continued to grow and change this city. Spam originated before the Second World War and was an important part of the diet of American soldiers.
Food Made With Spam
Even though I knew that, I didn't know how important it was at the time. Without SPAM, it would be very difficult for soldiers to stay stocked and rested. One of the main attractions at the SPAM Museum is what I like to call "Spam Around the World", although its original name is "The Global Market".
This exhibition presents Spam in different countries and the most popular foods in those countries. The museum wants guests to "travel" around the world and get to know the cultures and cuisines of each destination. A few special locations on the show include England, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, China, Hawaii, and Latin America.
While there are a few top performing countries pictured here, I learned that over 40 countries are using SPAM. Guests can play interactive games, such as creating a SPAM-inspired delivery to the Philippines, and learn about the contribution of SPAM to a specific destination. Each hall has a fact sheet showing how many cans of Spam are sold each year and interesting facts about Spam.
Just reading facts about Latin America I learned that the US-Mexico border is 30,903,840 SPAM long! In addition, you can learn about specific spam containers in each country. In Japan, they make sushi with Spam, while Spam and rice are common food in China. The Spam Museum appears in a two-stream gem, Vol.
