I'm sharing some of my favorite ways to make Christmas extra magical for the kids in your home, and of course, I'm sharing my free printable Santa Tags to use as many times as you like!
This is a great way to get the kids excited on Christmas morning when they open their presents and see the label from the North Pole and Santa himself. When you're a kid, you think there's nothing more special than Christmas. That happens until you become a parent and see the same joy on your children's faces.
It's an incredible feeling! Becoming a parent myself made me think back to my childhood. My parents were particular about keeping the magic of Christmas going as long as possible. They didn't do anything unique or special, but they managed to not forget who Santa really is.
Creating A Magical Christmas For Your Family
We put cookies and milk on the table every year and every Christmas day we woke up to nothing but crumbs and an empty glass on the table. Somehow, they managed to sneak in after I was in bed and loaded the gifts into the living room.

Our living room was covered in huge boxes full of all shapes and sizes and we were stripped of our socks. To this day, I don't know where my mother kept all these things. Not to mention the year they built a trampoline and a swing set up in the yard at night.
I was very surprised by Santa and his effort to find those in the yard. How did they get into hell? The funny thing is that at that time I was the only child in the house. My brother still lived at home, but he was in his early twenties or early 20s before he left.
My sister and her husband came on the day and Christmas was a blast with the most amazing party and swimming in the pool all day. I try not to laugh too much, but I must have been at least 11 when I found out the truth about Santa Claus... Yes, I think I'm shy, but I commend my people for a job well done.
Creating A Magical Christmas For Your Family
He was having a conversation with his school friend when the sad news came out. He made a comment about a big funny man which wasn't true and I had to fake my shock and disappointment by forcefully saying "I am." But we still play after a while.
I still wonder if my brother believed his twelve years. He used to trap the gifts in front of me. When our girls were too young to really understand the Santa part of our family's Christmas traditions, we always started making things to create that sense of magic anyway.

We are fortunate to have two different cultural traditions that are part of our Christmas celebrations every year, which means we work hard to keep our children grateful and humble. My husband's family is Polish which means Santa visits my grandparents house on Christmas Eve during the traditional Wigilia.
So in our Australian tradition, Santa comes while you are sleeping and leaves presents under the tree. We save our Christmas morning gifts and let the grandparents do it on Christmas Eve... with Santa. We give our girls real gifts, instead of toys, as other family members tend to go for fun things!

And the greatest gift is always from us rather than from Santa, because I know the fact that some parents could not give it and children should not be asked because Santa was more generous to them than anyone else. Some children can be cruel, especially if your older siblings think it's funny to spoil them first. It happens. One of my best friends is struggling with this right now, with a kid in her son's class running around telling everyone who Santa really is.
It's only 6. Sometimes these things cannot be avoided, so we do our best to build happiness and faith at home with our children. This means watching children's Christmas movies in December together and making an effort to move the stinkin' Elf! Trust me, I've forgotten the Elf on the Shelf a few times and I've become an expert at Elf excuses!
