El Santuario is known for its sacred dirt and the magical healing powers of the Esquipulas Crucifix of Christ. El Potrero carries New Mexico's highest quality religious artifacts, green and red chiles, and folk art. We also offer retablos (painted wooden saints), bultos (carved saints), pewter crosses and mirrors, milagros, Mexican pewter retablos and other traditional art created by well-known artists in the Spanish market.

We also have a large selection of Zuni fetishes from El Santuario and various containers for the sacred land. The store was opened in 1921 by Alfonsa Vigil as a small grocery store serving the local community of El Potrero. The store is now owned by his daughter, Elma Bal, and operated by his children, Raymond Bal and Vikki Tejada, who carry on the Vigil tradition of great customer service and hard work.
