If you don't have a TA, if you have any questions, call the Cruise Planner at 800. If it really is a gift card, I'm worried it's one of the gift cards from where you booked the trip.
For example, my Discover card offers an RC gift card, but you have to book a cruise with Discover to redeem it. I have a Royal Caribbean gift card and would like to add it before we leave my obci. Does anyone know where I would do this?
On the internet? Through phone? If you're going to buy something online, one option is to make the purchase on Cruise Planner and use a gift card to pay. If you think you're going to spend $$ on the ship, you might want to go to guest services.

All I see is an option to buy a gift card from their site. Many Royal gift cards have a specific purpose. They are not always like cash or can be used for everything that can be in the form of cash. Some are specific to OBC, some need to be used in cruise fares.

This is a paper certificate and can ONLY be used for NEW bookings. Cannot be used for later payments on booked cruises or for OBC. Edited to add: They probably have a fine print somewhere that mentions this restriction. Gift cards must be redeemed through Royal Caribbean International in the US dollar value shown on the front of the certificate.
1. Certificates must be used as a form of payment for new bookings made directly with Royal Caribbean. If a gift card has been added to the booking, the booking can be transferred to the travel agent of your choice. 2. Certificates are valid for Royal Caribbean International flights in USD only and cannot be exchanged for cash.

It can be used for all categories of ships, departures and cabins. 3. Certificates can only be used for NEW individual bookings in US dollars. 4. Certificates cannot be used for group bookings, charters or customized group programs. 5. Certificates cannot be used to obtain in-ship credit or to pay shipping charges.
7. The certificate can be used multiple times and can be used to top up cash payments or credit card payments. 9. If a reservation is made with a certificate, the normal cancellation policy, deposit and final payment schedule apply. 10. Changes to bookings may be allowed subject to availability.

Card print or electronic....it's all the same. Where can you find links to buy? Is it on the RCL website? Can't say I've seen it there. Gift cards must be redeemed approximately 10 days prior to the cruise. They're not very friendly Yeah, just to echo another poster...you can't redeem gift cards while on a cruise.
I wonder how many people are confused by this policy? My husband wanted to buy me and my daughter gift cards for our January cruise...thank God I saw the fine print. He gave us cash instead :D Another very easy option is to call and buy OBC.
The phone number is 800-722-5443 and it helps to have a reservation number. And be careful about the type of gift card, too. The other day I booked a rental car through Tickets At Work and saw that they had RCI gift cards. I'm thinking of buying this for the kids to use as an OBC for Christmas.
I know they need to be redeemed early, but I don't see it as a big deal since we are still almost 2 months away from our cruise. Then I read the fine print and saw that this was no ordinary gift card. I've never used a gift card for RC, but I did on our last two Carnival cruises.
