With such a beautiful view of the bay, who can not take photos? We currently have a large range of Raku ceramics, wood carving, jewellery, glassware and petosque stone, while watercolour, oil and acrylic paintings are available in our art gallery and upstairs in our new extension.

We now have a wide range of handcrafted furniture, from Amish rocking chairs to live edge coffee tables, many of which are one of a kind. Here at NorthGoods, we strive to be more than just a gallery and gift shop. By connecting the local community with artists from Michigan and beyond, we hope to help visitors discover what interests them about being up north.

Shorter's Grandfather's Gifts has been in the Shorter family since its opening in 1946. Carl and Ruth Shorter opened Shorter's Indian Craft Store at the corner of Lake and Petoskey Streets, which has been in business for over seventy years. . Although the store has passed through several generations of Shorter's and the name has changed, the tradition has not.

The first items Karl ordered for his modest store were Minnetonka moccasins. It was his first account as a store owner and also Minnetonka's first. The two businesses expanded together and the Minnetonka brand is still found in Grandpa's Short Gifts. With the support of the Petoskey community and its visitors, Grandpa's Gifts has since expanded from its original Minnetonka moccasins, Petoskey rocks and other Native American art.
