Paul And The Gift - 10 How I thank the Lord that you are worried about me again. I know you were always worried about me, but you never had the chance to help me. 11 This is not what I needed, for I have learned how to be content with what I have.

Paul And The Gift

12 I know how to live with nothing or almost everything. I've learned the secret to living in every situation, be it a full stomach or an empty stomach, with more or less. 13 For I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength.

14 Nevertheless, you have done well to share with me the present difficulties. 15 As you know, you Filipinos were the only ones who helped me financially when I first brought you the good news and then traveled from Macedonia. No other church has done this.

16 Even when I was in Thessaloniki, I sent help more than once. 17 I am not saying this because I want a gift from you. Instead, I want you to be rewarded for your kindness. 18 Now I have everything I need - and more!

Paul’s Thanks For Their Gifts

You generously endowed me with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. It is an aromatic sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. 19 And this is the same God who cares for me, He will supply you with all your needs from His glorious riches given to us in Christ Jesus.

20 Now all glory be to God our Father, for ever and ever. Amen. 21 Greet my greetings to every people of God's saints, all who belong to Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you their peace. 22 And all the rest of God's people also greet you, especially those in Caesar's house.

Paul’s Final Greetings

But he speaks secrets by the Spirit. 3 As for the one who prophesies, he speaks to people for edification, exhortation, and consolation. 4 He who speaks in a tongue gains his soul. He who prophesied builds the church. 5 I would like you all to speak in tongues, but rather to prophesy.

For he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks in tongues, if he does not explain to the church edification. 6 And now, brethren, if I come to you speaking in tongues, how can I benefit you, unless I speak to you either in revelation, or in knowledge, or in teaching?

7 Moreover, when inanimate things give voice, whether a pipe or a harp, unless they distinguish sounds, how can one know what a pipe or a harp is? 8 Also, if the trumpet gives an uncertain cry, who will prepare for battle? 9 So also, if you speak with tongues, unless you speak meaningful words, how can he understand what is said?

Because you will only speak in the air. 10 There are many kinds of sounds in the world, and none of them are meaningless. 11 If I do not know the meaning of the sound, I will be a stranger to the speaker, and the speaker will be a stranger to me.

Paul’s Final Greetings

12 Wherefore, since you desire the spiritual gifts, take care to obtain them in abundance for the building up of the church. 13 Therefore, let him who speaks in an unknown language pray that he also interpret. 14 If I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding bears no fruit to anyone.

15 So what is it? I will pray in spirit, and I will pray in meaning too. I will sing with soul, and I will sing with meaning too. 16 For if you are blessed with the Spirit, how can an uneducated man say, "Amen," when you give thanks, because he does not understand what you are saying?

17 Give thanks well, but the other is not edified. 18 I thank my God that I speak in tongues more than all of you, 19 but in church I would rather speak five words meaning for the information of others, than ten thousand words in an unknown language.

20 Brethren, do not be children of understanding. As for evil, be children, but in understanding, be mature. 21 In the law it is written: With other tongues and with other lips I will speak to this people, yet they will not hear me, says the Lord.

Paul Shows That The Gift Of Prophecy (That Is, Of Interpreting Or Preaching) Excels The Gift Of Languages, And How They Both Ought To Be Used.

22 Therefore tongues are a sign, not to those who believe, but to those who do not believe. On the other hand, prophecy is not for those who do not believe, but for those who believe. 23 If, if the whole church gathers together and all speak in tongues, unlearned people or those who do not believe come, will they not say that you are out of your mind?

24 But if everyone prophesies, and someone who does not believe or is unlearned enters in, everyone will condemn him and everyone will judge him. 25 In this way the secrets of his heart will be opened, and he will fall on his face and worship God and say that God is truly with you.

26 So what is it, brothers? When you meet, everyone has their song, they have their speech, they have their language, they have their vision, they have their interpretation. Let everything be for edification. 27 If anyone speaks in tongues, let it be two in all, or three in all, in order, and let another interpret.

28 But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in the church, and speak to himself and to God. 29 Let the prophets speak two or three together, and let the others judge. 30 If it is a revelation to a sitting man, let the first be silent.
