His outstretched arms span the length of the building, and his staff lights up in neon at night. Reports and suggestions from RoadsideAmerica.com visitors and the RoadsideAmerica mobile guide. It's a lovely gift shop - inside. The exterior is decorated with a giant magician with an epic beard, hat and light-up stick. Close in appearance to a particular famous wizard, but not close enough to mask the crime spell. It was previously an attraction called "The Magic Castle" which, believe it or not, was a completely different giant wizard.

For over a hundred years, America's most famous fairy tale, The Wizard of Oz, has been delighting audiences (young and young at heart) all over the world. World. Now the magic of Oz comes to Florida. Being a collector of Wizard of Oz memorabilia for over 35 years, working in the computer industry and raising children, I spend most of my money acquiring Oz items and I don't have enough money to value my Can buy pieces above the limit. I'd rather buy rare goose nuggets than invest elsewhere.

You might be wondering what was it about The Wizard of Oz that hooked me. Like many people, I've seen the original film, but the books kept me hooked. Did you know that The Wizard of Oz movie we love is only partially based on a book published 39 years ago?

Because I was always on the lookout for rare pieces that were beyond the reach of the average person, I was always short on money. If you collect, you probably know what I'm talking about, there is no limit to the cost of improving any collection.

When I have friends and visitors over to my house, I spend hours explaining the OZ pieces in my collection, most of them inspired to learn that there is so much more about Oz. Like many other Oz collectors, it has always been a dream of mine to open the Wizard of Oz Museum, but it's easier said than done.

Mobile Apps

You must be wondering what gave me the final push to open the museum. A visit to the Van Gogh immersive exhibition gave me the idea to bring elements from the Oz books that were never made into a film using immersive technology. I was thinking in my head how wonderful it would be to get the chance to jump down the yellow brick road toward the Emerald City and be surrounded by poppies.

How about visiting a munchkin land with a fairy tale environment surrounded by different flowers, mountains with different colored flowers on each of them and much more? In consulting some software developers, I've learned that all of this is possible, but it's much more complicated than Van Gogh's creation.

Having a concept for collectibles, a computer background, and what I wanted to make The Wizard of Oz immersive, I went looking for the location for the museum. Ideally, it would be nice to be in Orlando, the tourism capital, but the rental rates are too high, and I only found work for a few months.

While researching, I decided to rent a building in Cape Canaveral because of its proximity to Orlando, the port, and the Kennedy Space Center. I signed a lease on a building in late 2018 but decided to withdraw due to the pandemic. During the pandemic, I was working on creating immersive Wizard of Oz scenes and found that the one-minute tornado scene took about six months to design.

Information About The Museum

I created Immersive Van Gogh to complement The Wizard of Oz where we could design a 12-minute immersive Van Gogh in three months. You may be wondering why Van Gogh's creation is 20 times faster than The Wizard of Oz. The truth is, Van Gogh's visuals are based on existing works of art.

With computers, scenes can be easily manipulated and created. Nothing in The Wizard of Oz is created from scratch without any underlying artwork. Of course, I couldn't let the visitors watch The Wizard of Oz for just one minute, so the Van Gogh gallery was a great addition while we kept creating the other scenes.

During the pandemic summer of 2021, I decided to go ahead with my plan to open the museum. I am facing some difficulties in opening the museum. In October 2021 I was granted permission to open the collectibles display only portion of the museum along with the gift shop.

In February 2022, the museum had a grand opening with a fully functional museum featuring 3 immersive Wizard of Oz and Van Gogh scenes. A staff member and I were managing the museum's operations, it was an 80-hour-a-week effort for me, working between sourcing products for the gift shop, enhancing the museum experience, and creating new immersive Wizard of Oz scenes
